Roughneck Riot release brand new video for All That We Know

December 4, 2015

Roughneck Riot have had quite a busy year touring and recently put together some footage of their time on the road for their new video, All That We Know. Frontman Matty Humphries comments, “This song is about giving everything you have to something only for things to not go the way you’d hoped and then starting over and figuring it all out again instead of giving up.” Check out the new video here: The song is off their album, Out of Anger. The band has a couple gigs left this year and will then take a three month break from live performances to start work on another album.  The first gig back in 2016 will be their ‘Annual Birthday Bash’ at The Pyramid Centre in Warrington on 26th March – more info here. “Following that the band will be relentlessly hitting the road again throughout 2016 with a string of EU dates already booked to be announced in the near future. Now more than ever, the relevance of their politically astute punk polemic is unquestionable – [Read More]

The Strands at Room5: glass smooth almost-jazz with a cinematic bite to old and new songs

December 2, 2015

Review by Patrick O’Heffernan    (Hollywood) The Strands are a rare wine of music, like a fine cabernet sauvignon that is impressively good at first taste but gets richer, smokier and more complex as you continue to listen.  By the time lead singer Amanda Campbell finishes the last note of the last song of a performance or a recording, you realize that the music of The Strands has become a familiar friend, prized yet comfortable.   Their performance Saturday night to a standing room only crowd at Hollywood’s venerable Room5 Lounge perfectly showcased British soul singer Campbell’s uncanny ability to sing as smooth as glass, but put a bite into the words.  Her uniquely supple voice evokes nostalgia, determination and romance all at once.  The performance also showcased the intense lyrics of keyboardist and songwriter Susan Ferrari whose playing parses a tone for the band and whose musical poetry enters your ears and creates the moods and places and times and feelings The Strand is known for.   The band was formed in 2011 when Campbell, [Read More]

The future is bright as Joel Poe moves forward in his life

December 2, 2015

“If you stop moving you stop living. But it’s a road worth walking if you keep a positive attitude even in negative situations.”    You might recall our previous coverage of Joel Poe, the amazingly talented singer/songwriter whose voice could brighten even the saddest of hearts and bring hope to a younger generation. It was nearly two years ago that Joel captured our hearts with his touching song, Let It Out: Soon after everyone soon became familiar with the talent of Joel Poe and he released his debut album Drowkid. After a series of events unfolding, he soon disappeared from the scene for a year. But fast forward to today, and the future is bright for Joel as he moves forward with a renewal of his love for music and even a film project. Joel openly and candidly talks about the past year and where he is heading. Joel released his album, Drowkid after signing to Standby Records. Joel tells us about his departure from Standby: “After my first release under Standby Records we, both the label [Read More]

Performing with internationally known names, such as Kelly Rowland, NBC Universal, Don Omar, Walt Disney, BB King and so many more. This duo of mood designers has a natural flow that can’t be learned. Their sets are pure adulterated chemistry that is usually unrehearsed collaborations. Shortly after meeting several years ago, NaturalPhil and DJ Msquared had plans to collaborate. Having two busy schedules it took longer than expected, but they were relentless in this pursuit. A couple of years back they attracted the attention of the world’s largest drum magazine; Modern Drummer who did a spread that attracted lots of attention(http://bit.ly/ModernDrummer-NP). Lullwater stops in Sacramento for the Massive Collision Tour!

December 2, 2015

We have been talking a lot about the great music of Lullwater and we finally got the chance to check them out live this past weekend. They made a stop in Sacramento at the Ace of Spades for the Massive Collision Tour with Amaranthe and Butcher Babies. It was quite a night of high energy music that kept us fueled for the week! Lullwater kicked off the night with their alternative singed hard rock! They really bring an energy to the stage that infects the crowd and has them begging for more. It was great to see them perform songs off their recently released album, Revival which was recorded on analog and is a raw natural beauty.  We had the chance to chat with vocalist/rhythm guitarist, John Strickland before their set and you can check out that interview here: It was quite a night. In addition to their set, John came out and sang vocals on a couple songs with Amaranthe. It was an extra special treat and I was in awe of his natural ease [Read More]
