Vanessa Campagna’s star is rising fast as she crosses lines from classical to country to pop

February 6, 2016

Patrick O’Heffernan (Nashville, TN). Vanessa Campagna has sung with symphonies, she has shared the stage with Reba and Blake Shelton and Loretta Lynn, she can and does belt pop and rock with the best of them, she has been on Star Search, she wrote the music for an Oscar winning film, and has herself been the subject of a PBS documentary. And that is only the beginning of the career of a 22-year old woman the press has called a “vocal powerhouse”,  a “precociously gifted entertainer” and a “singer reminiscent of a  young Celine Dion”.  I can attest to every single one of those adjectives – I saw her recently live at an exclusive WorldArts concert and could feel the electricity flowing from her every note and gesture. Music FridayLive! was able to talk to her the next day after she arrived home in Nashville. Patrick. You are  back home now. Are you in the midst of a song writing project – I understand that songs do get written in Nashville? Vanessa. Yes.  I [Read More]

Interview with James Cassells of Asking Alexandria as they take over The Warfield in San Francisco!

February 5, 2016

Asking Alexandra recently set out on the road with Bullet For My Valentine and While She Sleeps for the “British Invasion Tour”. We were excited to catch them on the 2nd night of the tour as they made a much needed stop in San Francisco at The Warfield Theater.  This was the first time that we would be catching Asking Alexandria in San Francisco performing with their new vocalist Denis Stoff. One thing is certain, they truly blew the roof off The Warfield as they came prepared to unleash their fierce heavy metal onto the SF crowd. There was no shortage of energy as the five gelled together and delivered a performance that would have any naysayers changing their tune. With the departure of Danny Worsnop last year, it was a pinnacle moment for the band. It was one of those moments for any  band, where it could either define them, destroy them or as in their case, catapult them to a whole new level. They have returned to their roots as they delved deep into [Read More]

Chat with members of The Deadlies at NAMM 2016

February 2, 2016

We were excited when we ran into a couple of the guys from The Deadlies at this year’s NAMM Convention. They blew us away last year at BottleRock 2015 and this year they return to BottleRock 2016. One thing is certain, they truly bring the party to the stage as they will blow you away with their fun in the sun kick ass set!   Check out our interview with Bob and James at NAMM here: The Deadlies can be described as a California surf punk/rock band with a little Honky Tonk and Country thrown in.  One thing is for sure, when you listen to The Deadlies, you can’t help but move around and have some fun! They are “paying homage to the Ventures Dick Dale and the Chantays as well as the California Honky-tonk sound of Buck Owens and Dwight Yoakam while keeping an under lying presence of the California surf punk scene that brought us the Dickies, Agent Orange and Top Jimmy and the Rhythm Pigs.” They are set to perform on Friday, [Read More]
