Buika

Buika at Walt Disney Hall: a fairy-tale night in a magical music palace

April 2, 2016

(Los Angeles). The Walt Disney Hall can be an intimidating venue for artists. For the artist, standing on a stage crowned by the Manuel Gonzales pipe organ and facing over 2200 fans arrayed in Frank Geary’s shining chrome building requires not only soaring talent, but centered courage combined with humility.  Buika gave the sold-out Hall all that and more on Saturday night in her pairing with LA’s beloved American Latin Music band, La Santa Cecelia – a profound experience but almost too much of a good thing.   But all thoughts of excess disappeared when Buika’s voice rose from the stage into one of the best acoustical environments in the nation, if not the world, Her singing, her lyrics, her laughter and her conversation with the enraptured audience were supernatural, vibrating every square inch of air and every soul in the building.   There is a reason Buika is known as “fearless”; she can weaponize her fiery voice to deliver messages of humanity thwarted and demands for justice.  But she can also stand and [Read More]

Mayday Parade release music video for Letting Go

April 1, 2016

Mayday Parade have recently released a music video for their emotionally driven track, Letting Go which is off their album, Black Lines. Guitarist Brooks Betts explains “‘Letting Go’ is a song about self pity and not having the strength to get over a bad relationship. It’s about that weird spot when someone breaks you down even though you know they’re toxic. When you tried so hard for someone who was never going to let you in, knowing it’s going to end soon and preparing for the end”.  Watch the video here:   Make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news. ~ Marisol Information & Links: Website: http://maydayparade.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/maydayparade Twitter: https://twitter.com/MaydayParade

AshesToAngels release new video for Not In My Name

April 1, 2016

British Goth punks, AshestoAngels are gearing up for the release of their new record, How To Bleed on April 15th and shortly after heading out on a UK Tour. Meanwhile, they have just released a new music video for their song, Not In My Name. Crilly comments about the song, “Not in my name. It’s a powerful statement. I think it’s important to say this is not an omission of guilt. It is a rejection of all the horrible things that are done by those we trusted to protect us, on a global scale, a national scale and in our day to day life.  When taking away tents and blankets is seen as a solution to homelessness you know something is wrong. When we refuse to support the same people we have displaced you know something is wrong. I feel like by not speaking out then I am being complicit through inaction. It may just be a punk rock song, but words have power and if I can use that to make even the smallest [Read More]
