June 2, 2017

Less than a week after performing a magical set at BottleRock 2017, Saint Mesa have released their new track, Maderas. Singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Danny McCook says he wrote the song when he was “in Nicaragua surrounded by monkeys, geckos, trees, and amazing friends.”  Which truly explains the mystical nature vibe that it exudes. Vocals are velvety smooth as they take you on a tropical journey of rich colors and warmth. It is the perfect “feel good” track for the summer. Check out the new track  here:   M aderas (Audio Only) by Saint Mesa on VEVO. or on Spotify here: https://open.spotify.com/album/0Cezp4sDrF59rTKfte94Ed We had the chance to chat briefly with Danny ahead of his set at BottleRock, check that interview out here: Saint Mesa kicked off the Samsung stage at BottleRock 2017 last Saturday. Darla Beaux at the Hotel Cafe: the growth shows. By Patrick O’Heffernan

June 2, 2017

(Hollywood) Darla Beaux was sick Wednesday night when she opened at the Hotel Cafe’s intimate stage. She warned us that she would be singing in her husky voice. And then she let loose with the best singing I have heard from her since I began following her budding career about a year ago. From her new single “Trippin on Tears” to one of the most haunting versions of  1870’s folk song “In The Pines” I have heard in a long time, her husky voice was just fine with me. The fact that she could pull off a powerful, flawless set while not at her best shows how much this teenage singer/songwriter has grown.  If the growth continues, I expect to see her filling much larger venues in a year’s time. Asa teenager, Darla has a lot of time to grow, and she is working hard to make it happen.  Originally from Atlanta, GA, she has re-located to LA to work with Sera Roadnight, well known in the local music community for her deft skill with [Read More]

June 2, 2017

For our next Spotlight Band, we are going to give you a punch of punk rock with Miss Vincent. These punk rockers are from Southampton, England and have just released their new EP Somewhere Else. Vocalist Alex Marshall comments, “It feels so great to finally have this record out in the open. It’s been finished for a while so to finally be at the stage that we can share it is amazing. Every band is always saying their latest release is their best and of course that’s only natural, but with this EP we really feel like we’ve found what we’ve always wanted Miss Vincent to be – it’s a step up in every sense and we’re so proud of this collection of songs. This is the beginning of a new chapter for us, so turn it on, turn it up and dive in” These guys will have you hooked after the first listen. They bring out the raw nostalgic vibe of the early punk rock era. I love them and hope they make [Read More]

June 2, 2017

Just in time to crank it up loud for the weekend, is the new video from Rex Brown. The video is for the song Train Song which is off his upcoming debut solo album. It kicks ass as it delivers a hefty dose of rock that has you in high anticipation of his upcoming album. Rex is a great vocalist and he shines as a front man. Brown’s solo debut strips away any boundaries and preconceived notions, reveling in a newfound freedom to express all of the various shades of the man whose name is out front. The song “Fault Line” helped him find his voice. “That was the very first one I sang. After I got that one, I knew that I could do it, and Lance was my biggest motivator in finding that voice. Up until that point I just wasn’t sure.”  Rex’s solo album is full of mojo and the force of character, determination, and nerve. He tracked lead vocals, rhythm guitars, and bass, working with his primary collaborator and old friend, [Read More]
