Ithaca announce new album and release title track “They Fear Us”

February 9, 2022

The celebrated British Metallic-Indie-Hardcore band Ithaca announce the release of their long-awaited second studio record “They Fear Us” via Hassle Records. In addition to that, they also presented a first taste with the title track “They Fear Us”, which convinces with a catchy refrain and fearsome breakdowns. You can stream the song at https://ithacauk.bandcamp.com/album/they-fear-us The band comments: “We are happy to present our frist single with “They Fear Us”. We have particularly chosen this track, because it reflects the great theme of the record – the discovery and utilisation of inner power, strength, revenge and retaliation; the challenge of male power structures in general, but also in a deeply personal sense. It’s a divine memorandum – they might have hurt us then, but now they fear us and that’s what you should. The ideas reflect in the lyrics, but in the musical selection as well. The vocal sample is a field recording that Sam made during a trip to India after the death of his mother; it’s a priest performing the Ganga-Aarti-ceremony at the Ganges – [Read More]

Devon Kay & The Solutions release cover of “Unwritten”

February 9, 2022

Devon Kay & The Solutions, who recently signed to Pure Noise Records, have released a cover version of Natasha Bedingfield’s ‘Unwritten’. Speaking about the cover Devon Kay said: “We made this originally for a compilation that scheduling kept us from being on. We sat on it a bit and thought, ‘This is way to good to not be unleashed on humanity’. And thus, here it is. The song is an absolute banger front to back! We did what we always do and shortened it for the attention span of ourselves and I think it makes the song that much doper. We channeled our inner Four Year Strong on this one and hope you dig it! We love you Natasha!”. Rotting Out release Nirvana cover “Even In His Youth”

February 9, 2022

American hardcore punk band Rotting Out have released their raucous cover of Nirvana’s “Even In His Youth” via Pure Noise Records. Speaking on Nirvana, Rotting Out vocalist Walter Delgado comments: “This band has always been an influence in the way I write lyrically, and just an important song growing up, finding it randomly on the internet”. Raised on the sounds of local LA heroes Suicidal Tendencies and Pennywise, yet fully indebted to the thriving Southern California hardcore scene, Rotting Out have continually created some of the most energetic and captivating punk/hardcore being played today. Their music expresses a certain LA grit that is so rarely captured by many hardcore bands. After disbanding from their original band, Dogpile, the band formed in 2007. Since then, they have released two full-length records and two EPs. With vocalist Walter Delgado’s arrest in Ohio and an 18-month sentence for transporting an estimated 700 pounds of marijuana, the band was forced to take a break. After a three-year hiatus, the band reemerged into the scene at the iconic Sound and [Read More]

More on Carpool Tunnel: While their sun-soaked sound harkens back to simpler times, Carpool Tunnel literally wouldn’t exist without the power of modern technology. The Bay Area guitarists quickly bonded over a shared love of ’60s and ’70s-era classic rock like the [Read More]

Slowly Slowly reveal new single “Nothing On”

February 9, 2022

Slowly Slowly are welcoming 2022 with the reveal of their new single “Nothing On” today. Accessible from all angles, “Nothing On” sees Slowly Slowly expertly strike the balance between frivolity and depth. Listeners on the outskirts of the band’s world will be drawn in by its dance and pop-esque sensibilities; equally, faithful Slowly Slowly listeners will notice this tune’s heartache-tinged qualities and the depth of its storytelling. Produced by Slowly Slowly frontman Ben Stewart and mixed by acclaimed UK producer Jonathan Gilmore (The 1975, Wolf Alice, Nothing But Thieves, beabadoobee) ’Nothing On’ serves as the first taste of new music from Slowly Slowly since their 2021 single “Blueprint“, which recently came in at #92 in triple j’s Hottest 100. On the track, Stewart explains: “With this song I really tried to push the margin out on what is considered to be the Slowly Slowly wheelhouse. After I had finished writing the music I knew I needed something that was furiously addictive, but I didn’t want to lose the depth of songwriting the band has grown [Read More]

Hollow Front reveal new single and video for “Comatose”

February 3, 2022

Grand Rapids metalcore risers Hollow Front have ripped into 2022 with the release of their searing new single “Comatose” today. Hollow Front vocalist Tyler Tate shares that “Comatose” is ultimately about battling against depression while living in the hopeless, nightmarish world situation of the pandemic. Specifically, the song explores him being left with a comatose-like feeling after having live music, life purpose, and meaning ripped from underneath him due to restrictions. “I came up with this concept while being caught in the depths of depression during the heaviest part of the pandemic. When the entire music industry was shut down, and there was no sign of a comeback sight. Everything we had worked for was taken away in the blink of an eye and we had no idea when we would get it back. It was terrifying”, he shares. “I felt like I was fighting an impending darkness all the time, what I refer to in the song as ‘the sleep’; that feeling as if you’re just floating through your life, without happiness or purpose.
