Eddie Money kicks off the Thunder Valley Summer Concert Series with a Shakin’ good time

Summer is finally here and one thing is for sure, we love all the summer concert series. Just this past Saturday, we headed up to the Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln, CA to cover their first summer show featuring Eddie Money, Loverboy and Rick Springfield. We will featuring all these bands but wanted to start it off right with the awesome set by the Eddie Money Band.

Temperatures hit in the 100’s Friday and it was definitely one of the most sweltering afternoons. That didn’t stop the energy that Eddie Money and his band gave to everyone that night. They took to the stage at 6:30 and it was in the high 90’s and there was not an empty seat in the house. They kicked off the set with the crowd favorite, Baby Hold On To Me.

What was awesome was that everyone in the crowd, forgot about the sweltering heat and was on their feet dancing and singing along. It was one of the most energetic audiences I have seen in a long time. These were definitely people who knew how to have a good time and enjoyed the spectacular set by Eddie and his band.  The set list was as follows:

  • Baby, Hold On To Me
  • Walk on Water
  • No Control
  • One More Soldier Coming Home
  • Gimme Some Water
  • Take Me Home Tonight
  • I Think I’m In Love
  • Two Tickets to Paradise
  • Shakin

One of the highlight’s of the set was when they performed the emotionally driven and touching song, One More Soldier Coming Home. This song is a beautiful tribute to all of our veterans and troops and will warm the hearts of Americans. The song is currently available on iTunes and 100% of the proceeds of the purchase of this single goes to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (IFHF). IFHF is a non-profit organization that provides support to United States military personnel and their families since 2007. They also had t-shirts available to support this great cause.

It was great to see Glenn Symmonds on the drums, as he had battled cancer last year and is kicking cancer in the ass! His charismatic personality shines as he performs and is always smiling, you know he loves being behind that kit. Tommy Girvin on guitar is always a blast to watch as he blows away with his solos and makes it look so easy. Lee Beverly on bass was laying down his bass lines and would have this infectious smile on his face. Chris Grove on keyboard brings it all together with the keys and makes great contact with the crowd insuring that everyone was having a good time.

Then you have the iconic artist himself, Eddie Money center stage. On the stage performing is exactly where he belongs. There is no slowing down for this Money man and I don’t think the audience will ever want to stop seeing him Shakin. He brings out the entertainment through his songs and has everyone singing along to every word or dancing on their feet. It was nonstop from start to finish and the crowd loved him. He is definitely an entertainer and always will be one of my favorites.  Check out the photos by our Rockin Ryan of the complete set:

We will see if we can bring you an interview with Eddie at one of the upcoming dates. For now, pull out your favorite Eddie Money albums and crank it up loud!
