International legendary rockers, Scorpions recently released the CD/DVD Blue Ray of their MTV Unplugged CD/DVD package. The material is from the Scorpions‘ first-ever “MTV Unplugged show” and will feature new acoustic versions of their big hits and even five new songs! The sets were recorded and filmed on September 11th and 12th at Lycabettus Theatre in Athens, Greece. The spectacular open-air theatre, situated 300 meters above the city, was an impressive backdrop for the first-ever open-air show in the history of “MTV Unplugged” (the theatre also shares a birth year with the Scorpionsthemselves, having been built in 1965, the same year the Scorpions formed).
The Scorpions is Klaus Meine (vocals/guitar), Rudolf Schenker (guitars/vocals), Matthias Jabs (guitars), Pawel Maciwoda (bass) and James Kottak (drums). Mikael Nord Andersson (guitars, mandolin, lap steel, vocals) and Martin Hansen (guitars, harmonica, vocals) are also providing additonal music support.
Today, they have released the video of their acoustic performance of their legendary hit, “Rock You Like a Hurricane” which is spectacular! Check it out here:
It really is amazing work and you can’t help but fall in love with the Scorpions all over again. I think I might just have to pull out my vinyls and crank up Scorpions all day long! The Scorpions are still in the midst of their epic Farewell World Tour; the tour has been going on for more than three years now. To the delight of their fans there is no end in sight, as to date the band has only played 23 out of the 38 countries planned on the itinerary. I hope it keeps on going and I get to catch a couple more shows from them.
The Scorpions have been rocking since 1965 and have sold upward of 75 MILLION RECORDS!! They have also recently received their star on the Hollywood Rock Walk in Los Angeles. So let’s all mark our calendars for January 21st to pick up the new CD/DVD. For now, I will leave you with my Top 5 Scorpions songs.
