Interview with Lost In Los Angeles and get ready for the video release of Cloud City this week!

Music Junkie Press: Thank you very much for taking the time out to talk with us here at Music Junkie Press. We are excited about the release of your forthcoming album, Love Is Fate. What can you tell us about the new album?Danny: Thanks so are we! Love Is Fate will be our first full length album as an independent band. It’s the record we’ve always wanted to make, answering only to ourselves and our fans. A collection of songs that will take the listener on a journey – the kind thy might not find on a lot of albums out right now.

We are incredibly fortunate to be working with producer Omer Avni – he’s taking us to new levels on every front. He took the time to understand us and what we are trying to say. That close relationship is really showing through in the tracks.

Music Junkie Press: The first song you released Cloud City is awesome, for me it brings a fresh new life to my long lost love the ‘90s music. Your music truly takes you on a journey through lyrics and notes, can you tell us the story behind Cloud City?

Eddie: I was leaving for a quick trip to Asia a few months back and wanted to leave some of my ideas for the guys to work on. We have a deep circle of creative trust in this band. Any of us can inspire a new song with a collection of vocal, piano/synth, bass, drum or guitar lines, leave those ideas with the rest of the band, and known it’s in good hands.

With Cloud City I was just tapping into the energy of the moment – some kind of awakened dream state that I was translating through guitars, synth and drums. After I left Danny wrote the lyrics and vocal melodies, Clark added bass and harmonies and we ultimately all co-produced the final version.

Music Junkie Press: Your music has emotionally driven lyrics that truly grab you, do you have a particular song writing processing?

Danny: There are a lot of things that influence the lyric writing process. There’s something always swirling in my head that’s a combination of the past, present and future. It’s all about tapping into that energy. Love, hope, humanity… those things really drive the themes. I’m also inspired by the instrumentation we all come up with – it’s often the spark that starts the fire.

Music Junkie Press:  With the upcoming album release, do you have any summer tour plans?

Clark: We’ve decided to focus almost exclusively on finishing the record for an August ’14 release. We have a few shows and showcases here and there but our time will be dedicated to writing, recording and co-producing. We are working on tour plans for the Fall and beyond. More on that later!

Music Junkie Press:  We are excited to hear that you finished up shooting the video for Cloud City, do you have any timeframe for a release? Can you tell us a bit about it?

Danny: We are crazy excited about the exclusive world premiere of the Cloud City video happening this Wednesday, April 30! We will have the link and everything on www.lostinlosangeles.com, Instagram, Facebook, etc.

The video was directed by Steven Lippman, who also did Because of You and Million Stars with us. He’s such a talented artist – his vision is unlike anything we’ve seen. He captures light and motion in a beautifully unique way that truly connects with our music and draws the viewer in.

The piece stars model Rosie O’Laskey as she embarks on a journey guided by the legendary Yasmina Rossi. It’s something that definitely takes you to another place.

Music Junkie Press:  Can you tell us how Lost in Los Angeles formed?

Eddie: Danny and I had been working on a different project a while back and after we all parted ways he started writing a bunch of songs from the piano. He called me one day and asked if I’d help him record his ideas. Luckily I brought my guitar and everything started clicking magically. After a few runs with different members we finally found Clark and knew we had our sound. We then brought Iajhi with us on our east coast radio & club tour last December and we knew had the magic four!

Music Junkie Press:  Here at Music Junkie Press, we are very strong believers in music and how it can heal, help, inspire and so much more. Can you share a particular time in your life where music was truly there for you?

Iajhi: I think each of us has had a special relationship with music since we can remember hearing our first song as a little kid. Music has literally shaped our lives in so many ways. It’s why – even how – we start and end each day. I personally can’t pinpoint any particular time music has been there for me because there’s never been a time where it hasn’t been there. It’s inherently part of who I am.

Music Junkie Press:  Who were some of your biggest music inspirations?

Clark: Collectively, we have a really diverse set of influences on almost every front. Depeche Mode, Led Zeppelin, Moby, Boards of Canada, Deftones, Flock of Seagulls, Stevie Wonder, Goldfrapp, Elton John and Jeff Buckley barely scratch the surface. We could go for days on that one!

Music Junkie Press:  If Lost in Los Angeles could take a song from a completely different genre and turn it into  a LiLA style, what might that song be?

Eddie: Wow, talk about going for days! Well that actually happened in the studio one day a few years back when Danny was playing piano. Somehow he started playing the chords to Nirvana’s “Heart Shaped Box”… The way he started singing it, he took a classic grunge song and gave it a flowing downtempo LiLA spin. It ended up on our first record.

Music Junkie Press:  We know you guys did a fantastic job at SXSW performing, what were some of your highlights of this year’s SXSW?

Clark: For me it was the commradery amongst all of the different bands and artists that really struck me. There wasn’t a sense of competition, just full on support and appreciation. It really made for an awesome experience.

Music Junkie Press:  (if you can release info) Can you tell us about which song might be your favorite off the new album and why?

Eddie: Thats a tough one, especially since there are a handful of songs that are in development – and probably a few that will come out of nowhere during the whole process this summer. Can we take a rain check on that question and answer it after the release? That would be cool.
