Walk the Moon and their stellar performance at the sold out SF Masonic

I couldn’t have asked for a better way to start my week off than by catching Walk The Moon deliver an uplifting energetic set at SF Masonic. The first time I caught them perform was last year as the special guest on Panic! at the Disco The Gospel Tour concert at SJSU. I have been waiting for their return and this time their headlining show brought them back to San Francisco. The night kicked off with the infectious bubbly brat pop music of Holychild. They got the crowd moving in no time.  Check out a couple photos of their set by Rockin Ryan:

After Holychild, the immensely talented Saint Motel took over and kept the energy flowing with a swirling dose of indie dream pop. They played songs off their new EP, especially my fave; Cold, Cold Man. Here are some photos:

The energy in the Masonic was nearly at its peak when Walk The Moon hit the stage. This band which has been described as anything from indie to electro-visual, really can be summed up with the following; Music that inspires, invigorates, makes you want to move as you love and live life in the most positive manner.

The sold out crowd went wild with hysteria as they started the show with Jenny and followed up with Sidekick.  These young four musicians have successfully captured inspiration through their music and transferred it so beautifully to the listener. Their indie rock style appeals not only to a young generation but to anyone who enjoys great music with empowering lyrical content. The set list continued on with songs from their studio albums Walk the Moon and Talking Is Hard and included fan favorites like Avalanche, Different Colors, Down in the Dumps, Come Under the Covers, Work This Body and many more!

Nicholas Petricca on vocals, keys, and synthesizer is amazing to watch. He looks like he is 100% doing what he loves and you can see how he gives as much to the audience as the audience must be giving to him. He has a charismatic charm that just makes you smile and his vocals are captivating. Kevin Ray on bass is a wild man and full of energy as he would criss cross the stage with Eli Maiman on guitar. Eli delivered ferocious riffs and you were drawn into his animated style and infectious personality. Sean Waugaman on drums was fierce as he held a solid beat with precision and kept on smiling all night. They looked like they were having so much fun when hey perform and I can guarantee you that everyone in the crowd were also having the night of their life!

They captivated the audience with their incredible stage and light show that complimented each song igniting every sense. The crowd was a sea of movement and positive energy. You just can’t keep still when you are watching them. I was once again watching from the soundboard and even their sound and lighting techs were shimmying to the songs, enjoying every beat. Their music is pure magical bliss and and is the world’s best mood elevator. I swear the world would be a much more positive healing place if everyone was prescribed a daily dose of Walk the Moon music!

One of my personal highlights of their performances is when they play I Can Lift a Car. That song is my Go To track whenever I am faced with a new challenge or feeling overwhelmed. Nicholas touches on just those feelings, as he invites all the newcomers to join in and release all those burdens, fears, insecurities, worries and rise above. It once again, was a very emotional moment, as you could see the crowd embracing Nicholas’ every word and the room lit up with positive energy.

The night ended on a complete high as every audience member was singing and dancing to the spectacular performance of Shut Up and Dance and an amazing encore of We are The Kids and Anna Sun. It was all in all, a magical blissful evening that was good for your soul.

Make sure you to pick up their latest album Talking Is Hard and also visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news.
