Hell Rules Heaven is an amazing heavy modern rock band with metal influences from France. The band was out here in Los Angeles last month finishing up their album which is produced by Charles « Kallaghan » Massabo and is set for a release later this year. If you are not familiar with Hell Rules Heaven, they you have to first pick up their SINNERS album. You can pick it up on iTunes here. You have to check out their song, Hell’s Gate which features Shawter of Dagoba. We had the opportunity to interview Shawter last year and you can check that out here. It is an awesome track and you can listen to it here:

Hell Rules Heaven is:

  • Evan – Lead Guitar & Vocals
  • Gerry – Bass & Back Vocals/Scream
  • Thib – Guitars
  • Ronnie – Drums

We had the chance to chat with drummer, Ronnie as he was leaving the US last month to head home to France. Here is that brief interview:

Music Junkie Press:  First off, I understand you are in Los Angeles for the album process but where are you guys based out and where do you want us to list as where you are from? When formed?

Ronnie: So, we’re about go to the airport while i’m writing this. The record was just done few days ago!  We’re based in south of France, and were formed in 2010. It’s the third time we’re coming to Los Angeles. We already recorded our first album at the hobby shop studio in LA. We truly love this city!

Music Junkie Press: Do you have a title for the new album and who are you working with on it? Producer, Studio, etc?

Ronnie: We don’t have a definitive name for the album yet but we have few ideas for it…  The album is produced by Charles  “Kallaghan” Massabo. We also worked with some talented friends such as Boots (singer from Ze Gran Zeft and a good friend) and Bobby Falcon.

Music Junkie Press: We love your work on Hell’s Gate featuring Shawter, will this new album have any other artists featured?

Ronnie: Unfortunately I can’t tell you more about any other artists who was a part of it, but there might be some surprises…

Music Junkie Press:  When is an expected release date?

Ronnie: There is no release date yet because we’re talking with some labels and distribution for new contracts. Meanwhile, it might be released at the end of 2014.

Music Junkie Press:  We know that during your work on your new album, you got to experience the Earthquakes in LA, how was that for you guys? I am sure it is an indication that you guys are going to be ROCK us again with your new music!

Ronnie: That’s funny you’re talking about the earthquake that happened in LA, because we’re really not used to it, and it was kind of a surprise in the middle of the night! It created a weird atmosphere in the house, so we wrote a song right after it!  I don’t think we are as « Rock » as the first EP, it’s definitely more metal, but keeping our own rock vibe!

Music Junkie Press:  Anything you want to share about the album?

Ronnie: We’re all excited about these new targets and can’t wait to share it with you guys! The whole album is more violent, but also more melodic and catchy. That’s an important step in our sound!

Music Junkie Press: We understand that you worked with Ronnie Radke of Falling in Reverse on a song for the new album, can you tell us more about that?

Ronnie: Working with Ronnie Radke was really interesting. We learned a lot with him.  He is a really talented guy, and the result is awesome!

Music Junkie Press: Will you be planning on coming back to the US for a tour and what do you miss from LA when you return home?

Ronnie: We’re discussing with some labels for the distribution of that next record. these contracts will make it possible for us to tour across the USA, which is really hard to do on our own. We can’t wait to be back in the USA. We miss Los Angeles in every ways! But if I had to choose what we miss the most; i would say « Blue moon beer », Guitar center and Carl’s Junior! 😉

I will leave you with another one of their songs from their SINNERS EP. The song is Silver Eyes and the video was directed by Benjamin Cappelletti and produced by Charles “Kallaghan” Massabo.
