This is one tour not to miss. Doyle is amazing on guitar, he has this larger than hulk like presence and kicks out his smoking guitar riffs. You are just in awe and with the angst filled vocals of Alex Story and  you are in hardrock heaven. Doyle released The Abominator which is filled with 11 bad ass tracks to fuel your need for heavy monster metal. You can pick up your copy on iTunes here. We had the opportunity to chat with Doyle earlier this week as he is out on tour. We chatted about his album, how the tour is going, his views on vinyl, his new hot sauce,  as well as what is something that he would like to share with our audience and fans.

Doyle had a great thing to say about music pirating and how it is “just plain stealing”, “It is like the music is our product and if you know you walked into a store where somebody was making motorcycles and left with one, is that a crime?  It is a crime!“, Doyle explains.

To find out more about Doyle, check out our interview with him here: (Transcribed Interview below)

I hope you get a chance to catch Doyle out on his tour, it is one show you don’t want to miss! Make sure to visit his social media sites and stay up to date on his latest news.

~ Interview with Doyle ~

MJP: Thank you for taking the time out from your tour to talk with us here at Music Junkie Press. We understand you are out on the Annihilate America Tour?

Doyle: Yes, I am annihilating America as we speak.

MJP: I love it, Now actually you are touring in tour of your new album Abominator that you released on your own label, Monsterman Records?

Doyle: Ya, we decided we are going to keep all the money. (laughs)

MJP: It is the way to do it right now where you can take the full control of your album these days.

Doyle: Well you know, it is easy to record it yourself. You just need to get minimal gear and once it is a digital sound  you can mix it, so we did. We bought all the gear and did it ourselves.

MJP: That is awesome, Congrats on that album. Now one thing out on your tour, one thing is for sure, you guys are really bringing the energy to the stage. And it is great to hear the album but even better to experience it live in this venue and club atmosphere that you are bringing. How has the tour being going for you so far?

Doyle: The tour is going great, really receptive crowd. They are really happy to see us. You know, they know all the songs and we are peppering in some old Misfits tunes because our drummer decided to leave two hours before everybody was getting on the play to fly out here to go on tour. So we got Tiny from TSOL flew out on an hour’s notice and we have been learning songs every day, so you know.

MJP: Well, you guys have been sounding great. We had some people got out to I believe it was Pittsburgh, and they said was great and awesome. Said you guys brought this intense energy. I have to ask, do you have any preshow rituals to harness that energy before you hit the stage?

Doyle: Ya, we eat bananas!

MJP: Ha, a lot of bananas!    It is out on this tour that you guys are offering this VIP Meet n Greet Experience, where fans get to meet you, have they brought you any odd gifts lately.

Doyle: Everybody is bringing me bubblegum which is awesome because I don’t have to buy it Number 1 and Number 2 it fucking weighs a ton to put it in my luggage for the whole tour.

MJP: Any specific flavors you are looking for?

Doyle: Ah, just extra classic bubble gum flavor.

MJP: I love it, we will let everyone know to bring that to ya.

Doyle: O.K.

MJP: You guys actually had a tour date planned, we are up here in  San Francisco but I know it had been taken off, but has anything changed or been added to that?

Doyle: We decided on a day off because we didn’t have any so we are going to come up there and just got to eat.

MJP: That would be cool. Well I know you guys are going to be playing in Southern California. We might just try and trek down there and see you at the Whisky.

Doyle: I think you should come. We are gonna fuck that place up.

MJP: That is going to be intense. That is a great place for it too. I think definitely worth the drive down to see the songs performed live. I mean the album, is these intense songs, horror love story tales which I can imagine how you bring them to life on stage there. You are also releasing this on vinyl, a double vinyl which is awesome because I hated seeing vinyl disappear for so long. And also the album on vinyl, you pick up these great background screams, shrills, you guys give a great effect from that. Will you guys continue to always release on vinyl all the time?

Doyle: Oh, of course, we are going to do colors as well. We did double vinyl because it is the full 24 bit recording and we did it at 45 speed so you get the optimum sound on that. That is the best sound you are going to get, that is better than a CD which is easily 16 16 bit and I am guessing mp3’s got be at 8 because it sucks.

MJP: Ya, I know, exactly! You miss so much. We have done tests with people where we have them listen to vinyl vs cd vs mp3 and they pick up things and are like, “I didn’t even hear that” and ya, they’re right, they are missing half the song really!

Doyle: Ya, you are missing the whole thing. You should play it on 33, it’s so heavy.

MJP: I think we should bring back the record stores. It was not only this place to buy and listen to music, but it created this social environment which is lacking today instead youth goes to social media instead of in person. What is your opinion on all that as well as the social media vs record stores to find our music?

Doyle: I would love for everybody to have to do vinyl and have the big artworks and sit there and read it. You know there is nowhere to even buy CDs. You know I had to buy my girlfriend’s Cd and nobody fucking carries CDs anymore. It is fucking retarded.

MJP: Yes, it is. It is just everything has gone. That is probably it. I mean with all the changes in the music industry within the past 15 years, what is something that you would definitely like to see change?

Doyle: Ah, I would like to see nobody stealing music. They should have a way to police it on the internet that it is impossible and it is fined.

MJP: It is so true. And they don’t realize that it is affecting everything. I mean we are seeing that they youth is not coming out to live shows as much and it is really upsetting to us. I mean we grew up where any night of the week we could catch a live show.

Doyle: Ya, well MTV stuck that up our asses and now Youtube is sticking it up our asses too but, ya man it is fucked up. I mean, it is like the music is our product and if you know you walked into a store where somebody was making motorcycles and left with one, is that a crime? (MJP: Yup!) It is a crime, right. You have a product, I mean you can’t give us a fucking dollar? You know how hard it is to write a fucking song?

MJP: It is and it is a lot of worked involved and the worse thing is it just transfer from people to people and there has to be some form of policing it now. They have talked about but they really have to put something into effect because it is burning the whole industry up.

Doyle: They should get fined for it. It should be a fucking crime.

MJP: Yup I agree. That is a big change we need to see. That took it all downhill from there.  Now you mentioned your girlfriend, Alissa, now we have to ask, Maybe in the future will there be a tour for you guys, maybe Arch Enemy and you guys, maybe next year?

Doyle: We are trying really hard.

MJP: That would be awesome. That would be a cool tour. (Doyle: It would) I know we would be there.  I know we were talking about the digital age overload, it comes with the good and the bad. Growing up is there something from today’s era that you wish you had back then?

Doyle:  Um. As far as what?

MJP: Well, anything I know for me, when I was growing up, I would have loved to have a cellphone because I was always having to call my Mom when I was late but you know. Things like today that they have that we didn’t have. Social media I would have never wanted back then, probably get myself into too much trouble.

Doyle: Well, ya,  the cell phone is pretty crazy because if you leave your house without it, you are like, “Oh my God, I have go back”.

MJP: Ya, it is. And now you can’t find a payphone anywhere.

Doyle: They don’t exist and if you think you lost your phone? That is the worst fucking feeling there is.

MJP: That is very true.   We saw you actually earlier this year at NAMM. I know you have your custom made guitar but are you ever going to be making one for the public as a signature Doyle guitar?

Doyle: We had one with a company called Oktober but that contract is up and if they don’t come to my terms, we are not making anymore.

MJP: Ok. Are you going to be going back (NAMM) this January?

Doyle: Ah,  Ya probably. If I am not doing nothing, I’ll go.

MJP: Good, we would love to see you out there. I have to tell you with Halloween coming up, my youngest son after seeing you at NAMM, he is going to try and be you this year. We are going to get him his black hair and stuff, he is excited to be you.

Doyle: Cool.

MJP: You guys make a great impact on the youth, I mean he is only seven and such. With Halloween coming up, if you could look back, what is maybe from your childhood, what is one of your oddest costumes or most memorable costume that you had as a kid.

Doyle: My mom made me into a scarecrow and painted my face, and put patches all over me and it was very cool.

MJP: That sounds really cool! That is when we used to make our costumes, our parents. I loved that. Now it is overkill.

Doyle: Now you have to buy it at fucking Walmart.

MJP: We were watching you at the Kirk Hammett’s Fear Festival Horror Panel, seemed like a lot of fun, you mentioned about listening a lot to the music of the horror films. Can you maybe recommend or pinpoint which horror film from the past had your favorite or most memorable soundtrack or music?

Doyle: Um, I don’t know. I mean, just even normal movies, I find myself listening to the music and I would have to watch the movie again.

MJP: Exactly, You have to pick it all up again. Missing half the movie.

Doyle: I have to watch it twice

MJP: Now, you actually have a hot sauce out, correct? Made In Hell. Is there another one coming out also?

Doyle: Yes, we just got the samples in Georgia two days ago and it is called the Abominator and it is an asshole ripper so, that one is going to come out as soon as possible. We are working on the label right now and we should be getting it in store sometime soon.

MJP: Awesome. Is that also vegan as Made In Hell?

Doyle: Ya, they are all vegan, 100% Vegan, Gluten Free

MJP: We got to put those on some chickpea burgers! Sounds really cool.   Doyle, now if you could go back to your 14 year old self, what advice would you give to yourself at 14?

Doyle: Take guitar lessons son.

MJP: You mean not, just pick it up by ear?

Doyle: Ya, I mean, I only know like two or three chords and it is not really good.

MJP: You shred out there, you give so much energy. It is just like you make it look easy. And you look like you are always having fun. We all have our varied musical influences but if we could peak into your music collection, what artist might we find in there that is most surprising?

Doyle: Uh, there is a band in there called Delirium, I think that is pretty surprising. If you heard it you would be like, “What is wrong with this man?” I don’t know, I like old David Bowie and Alice Cooper and like I got like the first four Aerosmith albums, that might be surprising. Those are great records you know.

MJP: That is a good collection. You have to enjoy all kinds of music, preferably on vinyl. That is what I think. You have a couple more weeks of tour left and then what do you have planned after?

Doyle: We are working on some stuff for October, Halloween time, you know, if we don’t get nothing, I am  jumping on Arch Enemy’s bus and going on tour with them.

MJP: We know they are making a stop in San Francisco so we would hope to see you at that.   Lastly, is there something that you would like to share with our audience and your fans?

Doyle: My giant butt!

MJP: Haaa, You have to give tips out there. Do you ever get fans who are intimidated to come up to you at the Meet n Greets?

Doyle: Sometimes.

MJP: I could see that! Well, you are making a lot of people happy out on the road and we will see if we can trek down there to get to the LA show.

Doyle: That would be great, it is going to be a good one.

MJP: Thank you and have safe travels. We will see you out on the road.

Doyle: Thank you so much.
