The Senator Theater in Chico will never be the same as Asking Alexandria came through for their stop on the BREAK DOWN THE WALLS Tour this past week. They came in with full non-stop energy from start to finish! Tonight they finish up their US leg of the tour in Mesa, Arizona at the UFest. Then they head off overseas for several shows and return in July for the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festivals.
The Senator Theater was packed as the opening bands, Born of Osiris, Crown The Empire, We Came as Romans and August Burns Red got the crowd warmed up for the almighty AA! The stage setup was great from the the multiple backdrops featuring previous albums to the vending machines. The only thing we were missing were the dancing vices especially Erin Johnson from The Death of Me video! Their set list for the evening was:
- Don’t Pray for Me
- Run Free
- Breathless
- Dedication
- Someone, Somewhere
- Reckless and Relentless
- To the Stage
- A Prophecy
- Break Down The Walls
- Killing You
- The Death of Me
- Poison
- Welcome
- Closure
- The Final Episode (Let’s Change the Channel)
James Cassells was breaking in his new double bass Truth Custom Drum Kit, set on high risers so everyone in the audience could see him. It was awesome. Then our eyes were racing across the stage as the string section; Cameron Liddell, Sam Bettley and Ben Bruce deliver their spectacular stage presence. Front and center is the amazing Danny Worsnop as he captivates and controls the crowd with his every move. His vocals were spot on for the evening and had everyone singing along. It was really one of the best times I have seen Asking Alexandria, considering we have seen them about 7 times. They just seem to get better and better and never disappoint.
It was great to see Cameron play his CLM1 Signature Ibanez, Sam on his Schecter Sam Bettley Stiletto Bass and Ben on his BBM1 Ibanez Signature, especially after checking out the guitars back in January at the NAMM Convention. The sound was wickedly heavy and you could hear it from front to back as the walls were being torn down through the sound! It was an intense octane fueled set and everyone left fully amped! I know we couldn’t stop talking about it as we trekked home on our 3 hour drive, playing the setlist in it’s entirety on our CDs.
Check out the bad ass photos from Rockin Ryan of their set and stay tuned for more news on Asking Alexandria.
Make sure to catch Asking Alexandria as they perform on this year’s Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival. You can check out dates and information on the Mayhem Fest here. I will leave you with a Tribute Video which Rockin Ryan put together for my favorite song off their new album, “Moving On”. It includes photos and footage from their set at Aftershock Festival. Also included is a live footage video of the past shows we saw AA at for Break Down The Walls. Make sure to also check their social media sites for updates on tour dates.
