Arriving at the venue, there’s already a big crowd lining up around the block. The end of the line reached the start and they asked everyone to get closer together, so there’s enough place for everyone to queue.
With opening the doors at 7 pm, the crowd was off and started moving. People with O2 phones got in first and the rest followed through quickly. Inside, Drama Club already started their set. The steady beat of their tunes got the crowd going. Part of their set was a remix of Andy Black’s (Andy Biersacks moniker), “They Don’t Need To Understand“. If they didn’t have everyone on their side, now they had. Even though they don’t play a classic rock sound they fit in pretty good.
Next on were UK residents Fearless Vampire Killers. They were obviously known to many people. Singers/guitarists Kier Kemp and Laurenence Beveridge switch singers position after a few songs. Good choice bringing them along. With this set-list they were the ones which are closest to the music Black Veil Brides play.
Next up came Attila. They canceled their own headline tour through the UK to be able to play this set with Black Veil Brides. They played an energetic set. Their singer Fronz knows how to get the crowd going and several time encourages them to do circle pits and simply just to party with them, having a good time.
Now everyone was ready for the headliners – Black Veil Brides. With every microphone that was put on stage and everything moving they cheered. When CC finally climbed up to his drum kit, the crowd went wild. He was followed by the rest of the band and they immediately started their set with “Heart Of Fire“, one of the two already released songs of their self titled album “Black Veil Brides“. The stage had two stairs left and right from a podium where the drum kit was placed on in the middle of the stage on a huge stack of Marshall amps. At the end of each stair there were monitors where sometimes fire, the band logo and other pictures were displayed. Next on was a well known song for everyone “I Am Bulletproof“ from their latest album “Wretched and Divine“.
Andy Biersack, well known to hold unforgettable speeches, greeted everyone and told them how much they love to be back in the UK. There were more of those speeches throughout the show. He never tired to thank the BVB Army (that’s what their fanbase is called) for their support throughout the last 5 years. That all of this wouldn’t have been possible, if they didn’t stand beside the band as much as they do. The BVB Army is a really dedicated fanbase throughout the world.
Photos from their set by Alexandra and edited by Rockin Ryan:
Watching the band play, you could see how much fun they had on stage and how much they love their job and also their fans. Jinxx, playing the guitar and also every other string instrument the band uses in their songs, wore a „I love London“ shirt, which was exactly what everyone felt by watching them play.
Next up came a song, they never played live in the UK before. It’s from the EP „Rebels“ and is called „Coffin“. It was received with a great cheer from the crowd. It was followed by another live debut, the second one of the upcomping album, that will be released worldwide on October 27th. It’s called „Faithless“. It’s only been released for about two weeks, but the crowd already knew every word.
Their set included some more of the new songs from “Black Veil Brides“ that were so far only known to a small crowd of people that were invited to a pre-listening-party about 3 weeks ago in London. They played “Good Bye Agony“ a slow song and “Last Rites“, which made everyone a bit more excited for the record release in 2 weeks.
Black Veil Brides also played some songs from their debut-album “We Stitch These Wounds“, like the breakthrough song of their career “Knives and Pens“, which has over 62 million clicks so far on Youtube and “Sweet Blasphemy“.
Like at most rock shows there also was a drum solo. The set list included a good mix of every record they released so far and the one that will be out soon. No other cover songs this time.
They closed the set with “Fallen Angels“ and finalized it with “Love Isn’t Always Fair“ and their fairly popular song “In The End“, which is a perfect ending to a fantastic show with amazing lighting, pyros and confetti for the final tunes.
Black Veil Brides clearly evolved with every record they made and every tour the play. Ready now to play big venues. They promised to come back to the UK soon and I’m pretty sure they will….
Their UK-tour ends Oct. 17th in Leeds. The US-Tour starts Oct. 21st in Niagara Falls, NY.
