Hey everyone it is Rockin Ryan here and I am proud to bring you another interview. This time I have a special one. Recently we heard the news of Siren Sycho parting ways with Death Makes Pretty due to differences between the needs and direction of the band and Siren.  Siren is definitely still continuing on and I am sure in no time she will find a perfect fit with a new band. One thing is for sure, Siren delivers 100% INTENSITY with whatever she is doing. If a band is looking for an over the top frontman(woman) who will definitely take them to new levels with their music.  Here is my interview with Siren:

Music Junkie Press: This is Rockin Ryan here and thank you very much Siren for taking the time to talk with us here at Music Junkie Press. We recently heard the announcement that you and Death Makes Pretty have parted ways, can you tell us more about that?

Siren Sycho: It was an amicable decision where we had to agree to disagree. It boiled down to a few creative differences but I wish them all the best.

Music Junkie Press: You have such a compelling and intense vocals that we just love, at what age did you start singing?

Siren Sycho: Originally I was a guitarist, which I picked up from the age of 14, playing in my first band Matricide. I never wanted to be a vocalist, it was only when I joined my second band, Bett the Deadman, when the original vocalist left and it felt natural for me to take the lead and drop the guitar. Ever since then I cannot imagine myself anywhere but the lead in a band.

Music Junkie Press: What was the first time you ever performed publicly and did you always know you wanted to perform?

Siren Sycho:  Actually when we started out in Bett the Deadman, we were fortunate enough to support Sikth as one of our first gigs. This was a hometown gig and the crowd were going mental, which really let me get in my element and confirm that this was my calling.

Music Junkie Press:  What is one of the most wildest tour stories you have to share, don’t worry we are not G rated here!

Siren Sycho:  I daren’t go into my wildest stories, cos they go to the grave with me…

One tale I can recall was at one gig with another previous band by the name of Charlie Uniform November Tango, where I felt obliged to scale the wall of the venue only to be ripped down by security and dragged through the mosh pit and out the door. Our set was over and only half way through but it was worth it.

Music Junkie Press:  That sounds hardcore, I love it! You list The Dirt by Motley Crue as one of your influences, what is something from The Dirt that you can relate to?

Siren Sycho:  Nikki Sixx has really inspired me as a musician and all round rock star. Of course I could never match the height of their rock n’ roll debauched lifestyle, but I certainly have some dirt of my own. I relate to Nikki’s complete dedication to be the ultimate rock star which is what I have now dedicated my life to be!

Music Junkie Press:   Nikki is my idol too, been a long time fan of all his work from photography to music to his writing and now his Blublockers! With you out there looking for a new band, what are three essential things that  your new band must have?

Siren Sycho:  Passion for the right music first and foremost. Also the drive to want to make it big and want to make a stamp on the rock scene. Finally, they must have the musical talent.

Music Junkie Press:   I know that what you bring to any new band, is an untamed intensity that can set the stage on fire, but also what three things do you have to bring to the band?

Siren Sycho:  I make the band my priority, so the dedication is there. It’s so important that the band I’m in wants to create something different, and I’ll bring as much creative ideas to get us in the right direction. Finally I pride myself in my unique appearance and stage presence, which is essential.

Music Junkie Press:  You definitely bring intensity to the stage! I swear we get chills when we listen to you, really reminds me of early Joan Jett, I am sure she was a big inspiration for you, do you have others?

Siren Sycho:  Nikki Sixx through and through, he sets the bar in terms of what being a rock star should be. I’m currently reading the Lost Gospels According to Al Jourgensen, who you may know as the lead vocalist of Ministry. In it I find it very inspiring how he remained focused on getting the band to where he wanted no matter what obstacles faced him. Last but certainly not least I owe a great deal of respect for Casey Chaos, lead vocalist of Amen. From a young age he has inspired me to make music and keep going no matter what shit I have had to go through in past bands.

Music Junkie Press:  I am going to have to read Al’s book too. What was the first concert you ever went to?

Siren Sycho:  It was 2001 at Wembley Arena where I saw The Offspring.

Music Junkie Press:  If you could take any song from any other genre and turn it into your own style, what would it be?

Siren Sycho:  The new wave of so called metal that’s transformed into what some call ‘post hardcore’ makes me sick and I hate how the new sound is soundtracking today’s youth. I would tear the songs apart and show these pricks what real music should be! The youth deserve better…

Music Junkie Press:  I think today’s youth should be more open minded and willing to listen to different styles of music.  What is one of your all time favorite movies?

Siren Sycho:  Natural Born Killers.

Music Junkie Press:  If Siren Sycho became a new ice cream flavor, what would it be and why?

Siren Sycho:  Blood because I like the taste of it.

Music Junkie Press:  That is a first and very unique I must say! Can you tell us three things we might not have known about you?

Siren Sycho:  Those would be 3 things that you wouldn’t wanna know about me. Let’s leave it at that.

Music Junkie Press:  Lastly, is there anything else you would like to share with our audience?

Siren Sycho:  Anyone out there who reckons they like my style and what I’m about then hit me up on my facebook.
