Tuesdays Travels Feature Band
We have a new feature here at Music Junkie Press where we will be introducing you to a new band each week from anywhere in the World.
Today we are going to travel to Surabaya, Indonesia and ask you to welcome Morganostic into your playlist. They describe themselves as “We are a legion of groovy riffs, jaw dropping tones, sweet harmonics, and angry vocals. We have no rule in creating our songs, each song is a different masterpiece. We are limitless.. ” Well, they do have the music to back up that claim. As soon as I checked them out, I was really loving their sound, they definitely fuse some electonic with their high energy guitar riffs to create a fresh new metal sound. Check out their new song, ‘To Conceive” which is going to be released on their debut EP in a few months as they are being supported by Youtube promoter, Beheading the Traitor.
They are currently working on their debut EP and we had a chance to talk more with Sinatrya Darmawan and are pleased to bring that interview to you here:

Music Junkie Press: We are excited to introduce Morganostic to our audience! Can you tell us how you guys came together to form your band?
Sinatrya: Morganostic was formed in 2009, and I (Sinatrya / guitars / song writer) hadn’t joined the band yet. There were some member replacements, until in 2011 Rio (vocals) and Akbar (drums) hit me and asked me to play guitar for the band. In the same year Mistar (synths / programming) joined the band. Riza (bass guitar) joined in 2013.

Music Junkie Press: We understand that your debut EP is set to release this year, do you have any release dates and what is the title?
Sinatrya: We can’t tell you the title, it’s still a secret haha. But we’ve done recording some songs and the EP is expected to be released in a few months.
* * *
Music Junkie Press: Well, we patiently wait for it! Your first single “To Conceive” is just in your face metal that we love and you really bring some techno and harmonics into your music. Will there be more of this on your EP or can you tell us what else your EP has?
Sinatrya: Yes you’ll definitely be hearing more of that. For the EP we’ll also use 6 and 7 strings guitars. So it’s gonna be colorful.
And just to be clear, To Conceive was written in 2012. But we decided to record it properly in 2013. The EP will contain some songs that were written in 2013, so you can see there will be some variation and it’s gonna be awesome!

Music Junkie Press: We really are excited about the EP. What albums influenced you the most?
Sinatrya: It will be Periphery’s albums. They have so much musicality within. And they teach me a lot of new stuffs. I can say that their albums changed my life haha.
Music Junkie Press: Periphery does put out some bad ass metal albums! What is the music scene like Indonesia? Is there a big metal scene and venues for you to play at?
Sinatrya: Indonesia has some big metal scenes actually. And we’re proud of them. You should come to visit Indonesia, Mari!
* * *
Music Junkie Press: I would love to visit Indonesia. I hear it is beautiful and to know that there is a big metal scene, what more can I ask for! I can totally see Morganostic playing a Mayhem Festival or even a Warped Tour, have you ever played here in the States?
Sinatrya: Ah that’s our dream to play at Mayhem and Warped Tour . We haven’t played there but someday we will!
* * *
Music Junkie Press: Well, I don’t think it will be too long until you get to play at Mayhem or Warped Tour. You really are the perfect fit and hope to see you guys out here soon. How old were you when you first started in music and can you remember what was your first concert?
Sinatrya: I started with a guitar course when I was 8 years old. I’m not sure what my first concert was, but I’ll pick my favorite. It was Paramore. Hayley was soooo hot you know haha.
* * *
Music Junkie Press: Hayley definitely brings a lot of fans to Paramore and she really has great stage presence.If you guys could put together your perfect dream line up for a concert, what three bands, (living or dead, broken up or together) would you put on the bill?
Sinatrya: I’d like to see The Beatles, Queen, and The Rolling Stones. I’m not a biggest fan of theirs but I really need to see “the legends” live.
* * *
Music Junkie Press: If we could peak into your Ipod/playlist, what would be the next three songs on shuffle?
Sinatrya: Calabi-Yau by Tesseract, Olvidala by Mestis, and Haas Kicker by T.R.A.M.
* * *
Music Junkie Press: So I will be honest, I do know Tesseract and the great saxophone in Calabi-Yau but am not familiar with the others. I will definitely check them out! Lastly, what else would you like our audience to know about Morganostic?
Sinatrya: Thanks to you guys all who have supported us. We worked hard for the latest single, and it’s very relieving to know that the song is warmly appreciated by many people.
And for you guys who don’t know us, please go check our stream video for the latest single “To Conceive” here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vX0AmVwY8B8 , and brace yourselves for the upcoming EP that we’re working on right now!
