The Tontons

Houston’s indie 4-piece The Tontons announce new tour dates for 2014 in support of their latest LP Make Out King and Other Stories of Love. The LP was released in February and has been well received. After quite a busy schedule at this year’s SXSW and performing back to back shows, they are soon gaining everyone’s attention. The Tontons aren’t looking to slow down anytime soon and are set to play an impressive lineup of shows and festivals this Spring and Summer including The Hangout Fest, Free Press Summer Fest, Middle of the Map Fest, Texas Crawfish Fest, FireFly Music Festival and more to be announced soon.  The dates so far are:

  • May 3 – Spring, TX @ Texas Crawfish Music Festival
  • May 16-18 – Gulf Shores, AL @ The Hangout Fest
  • May 24 – Ft. Worth, TX @ The Shack at Island Panther Pavilion
  • May 31-Jun 1 – Houston, TX @ Free Press Summer Fest
  • Jun 19 – Dover, DE @ Firefly Music Festival
  • July 18 – Pemberton, BC, CA @ Pemberton Music Festival

If you are not familiar with their music, let me introduce you to The Tontons. You will be treated to the deliciously sultry vocals of Asli Omar and the immensely engaging instrumentals. It is music that opens your heart and feeds your soul, charismatic and energetic. The album Make Out King and Other Stories of Love has been described perfectly by SPIN Magazine as 40 minutes of natural charisma and steamy hooks“. Perfectly said!  One of the stand out songs on the album is the rock song, Veida and is has an infectious and flirty style to it. Another song that is my favorite is Paradise.  Lead singer, Asli Omar, explains “‘Make Out King’ is more than just an album to us. It’s 3 years of growth and change. It’s touring across America. It’s playing in places that we never thought we would see. It’s our story and we hope that, for everyone who takes the time to listen, it will become part of their story too.” The album can be picked on Itunes here.  You can check out Veida in their video here:
