TMS

Tune in Saturday night for all new episode of That Metal Show! This show is Week 9 and features a return visit by Dee Snider as he sits down and talks with Eddie Trunk, Jim Florentine and Don Jamieson. Dee shares stories from Twisted Sister’s 30 year history. Dee shares his thoughts on Led Zeppelin albums during the Rank segment and of course shares some his answers on the “Put It On The Table” segment. This week’s episode airs on the 59th birthday of Dee Snider.  I have a great way for you to celebrate Dee’s birthday, how about cooking up a batch of our Dee Snider Sliders complete with Dee’s infamous curly hair via our French Fried Onions. We featured the recipe last year during our Revolver Golden Gods Awards coverage.  Recipe is listed below.

The music guest for this week’s episode is Trans-Siberian Orchestra/Savatage guitarist Chris Caffery. Chris truly gets the crowd involved when he plays and showcases his shredding abilities! Also popping in on the TMS “Metal Modem” is TMS alum Glenn Hughes. Glenn talks about his new project with Jason Bonham called California Breed and shares with us some details about a California Breed tour.

So make sure to watch, record, DVR or tune in Saturday March 15th on VH1 Classics at 11 PM ET. We also had the chance to interview THat Metal Show host, Eddie Trunk last week and here it is once again:

So make sure to set your DVRs and don’t miss any episodes of That Metal Show!  Here is our recipe for Dee’s Snider Sliders.

Dee Snider Sliders with signature Dee hair via French Fried Onions!

These sliders pack a punch and are full of flavor, just like Dee and his larger than life personality! Makes 24 sliders

Items Needed:

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 24 dinner rolls or slider rolls
  • Cheese ( we used Muenster but you can use any sliced cheese to your taste)
  • 3 tablespoons barbecue sauce
  • 1 large red onion, peeled and very thinly sliced ( we used a mandolin slicer)
  • 1 1/2 cups lowfat buttermilk (can also substitute with lowfat milk)
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • canola oil for frying

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°. Cover a baking sheet with foil and spray with cooking spray.

2. Mix together ground beef. You don’t need to season the burger since you have the onions and barbecue sauce. If you like, you can still add salt and pepper.  Form ground beef into slider side and make 24 sliders.

3. Cook at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes until browned on the outside. You can cook to your degree of wellness required.

While sliders are cooking, you can prepare the Dee Snider French Fried Onion hair.

4. Preheat oil in a deep pot or a fryer at 350°.

5. Add onions and buttermilk to a large bowl and toss until mixed and fully coated.

6. In a second bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne.

7. In small batches take coated onions and dredge them through the seasoned flour mixture, shaking to remove excess, and fry for 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 minutes on each side (or until golden.)

8. Place onions on a paper towel lined platter and sprinkle with a tiny bit of salt.

9. Repeat until all onions are golden and crispy.

10. Prior to taking sliders out spread  a small amount of barbecue sauce on top and place a slice of cheese to melt.

11. Place slider on bun or dinner roll and top with a bunch of crispy onions and have them hanging out the front like Dee’s famous hair!

12. Place sliders on a platter and Enjoy!
