Perfect way to start your week is by cranking up some of The Black Moods!

April 14, 2014

Some people dread Mondays but I love them. I love the challenge of a new week ahead, new beginnings and especially finding new music to share with you all. Today I have a great band out of Arizona, a three piece rock band, The Black Moods. How do I describe them? Well, let’s see, they have great guitar driven songs, infectious melodies, energetic vocals and an upgraded version of old school rock and roll. Imagine the great songwriting of Tom Petty meets the energy and passion of the Foo Fighters along with a side order of Collective Soul.  They are Josh Kennedy on Lead Guitar/Vocals, Ryan Prier on Bass/Vocals and Chico – Drums/Percussion. Together they have collectively brought the rock influences of the past 40 years and have created their own unique signature sound.  You are going to love them, I know I instantly did after checking out their latest music video for their song, Don’t Let Them Get You Down   Don’t Let Them Get You Down is off of their self titled debut album and can [Read More]

Asking Alexandria BREAKS DOWN THE WALLS at the Senator Theater in Chico

April 12, 2014

The Senator Theater in Chico will never be the same as Asking Alexandria came through for their stop on the  BREAK DOWN THE WALLS Tour this past week.  They came in with full non-stop energy from start to finish! Tonight they finish up their US leg of the tour in Mesa, Arizona at the UFest.  Then they head off overseas for several shows and return in July for the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festivals. The Senator Theater was packed as the opening bands, Born of Osiris, Crown The Empire, We Came as Romans and August Burns Red got the crowd warmed up for the almighty AA!  The stage setup was great from the the multiple backdrops featuring previous albums to the vending machines. The only thing we were missing were the dancing vices especially Erin Johnson from The Death of Me video! Their set list for the evening was: Don’t Pray for Me Run Free Breathless Dedication Someone, Somewhere Reckless and Relentless To the Stage A Prophecy Break Down The Walls Killing You The Death of Me [Read More]

Y & T celebrating 40 YEARS of Rockin The Planet!

April 10, 2014

One of my favorite rock bands of all time, Y&T is celebrating 40 years of Rockin The Planet. Maybe one of the reasons I have always loved them is that they were a local band from the Bay Area and I saw them perform maybe over 25 times.  Y & T started in Oakland, California and originally released their first couple albums under the name Yesterday & Today. Since 1974 they have released 18 albums, three greatest hits collections, plus a box set and have sold over 4 million albums. Long before Motley Crue, Guns n Roses, RATT, Metallica, there was Y&T and they are one of the founding rock bands that set the standard for many to rock! They have never stopped rockin the planet and there is no slowing down in sight for these guys. You can celebrate their 40 year anniversary by purchasing their “40” design tee which is available on their website here: http://store.meniketti.com/   Also make sure to catch them out on tour. Y&T promises to deliver a high energy powerful set [Read More]

Matt Hires new EP Heartache Machine is climbing the charts!

April 10, 2014

Matt Hires released a new EP earlier this week, “Heartache Machine” and it features four new songs and follows up to last year’s “THIS WORLD WON’T LAST FOREVER, BUT TONIGHT WE CAN PRETEND.”  What is very exciting about this new EP is that Matt has returned to independent level after spending 6 years with Atlantic Records.  Regarding the recent change, Hires said, “Making the leap to independence has been really freeing and invigorating for me as an artist. I love that I’m able to get songs from the studio and into people’s ears in just a little over two months. It’s definitely a little scary, but I think it’s going to be really good for me and good for my fans. With ‘Heartache Machine,’ I feel like I was able to break into a totally new level of honesty in my songwriting and I think it comes through in the recordings.” His return to the independent level reminds me of my favorite quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson: “Do not go where the path may lead, go [Read More]

Steel Panther release new video for Gloryhole off their new album All You Can Eat

April 9, 2014

Hold on tight!! Get ready for another raunchy yet hilarious video by Steel Panther. This time it is for their song Gloryhole which is off their new album All You Can Eat.  The album was just released less than two weeks ago and everyone is talking about it. It has everything you could want in rock and metal from anthemic rock songs, arena size ballads, blazing guitars, great harmonies, power house drums, sexy bass lines and those 80s style vocals that we can’t get enough of. There are some bad ass guitar solos, smokin riffs, catchy choruses, I just can’t tell you how epic this album will be.  The songs are fun and infectious and you can’t help but love them. Definitely a party album for any night of the week.  If they had a panty meter for this album, it would be a full on soaking wet one for this new album!  We will have to watch out for the next baby boom that will be coming 9 months after this release! It is [Read More]

Thom Chacon is our Bottle Rock Napa 2014 Featured Artist of the Day

April 9, 2014

Today our Bottle Rock Napa Featured Artist is Thom Chacon. For today I wanted to feature an artist who truly makes an impression with his words and melodies in his song. Thom Chacon is an Americana delight as his music brings to light his influences of Kris Kristofferson, Steve Earle and Townes Van Zandt, among others. His love of nature in his personal life trickles into his song as you find yourself often painting a scenic picture in your head as you listen to him.  His narrative style evokes so much passion in his songs and his vocals are soul touching. One of the songs that highlights this style is in Chasing the Pain, amazing song that tells such a reflective story of pain.     Thom‘s songwriting is spectacular and reminds me of true Johnny Cash style. Thom has gone on to tour around the world, opening for artists as diverse as Los Lonely Boys and Jason Mraz, playing shows in Thailand and India, and even one memorable gig on July 4, 2004 at Folsom [Read More]
