Get your Rock and Roll Fix with Shotgun Harlot!

September 26, 2012

Sometimes with music today, I long to hear down and dirty ROCK n ROLL!! You know what I am talking about, right? The kind of Rock that has you with your fists in the air, drink in the other hand and just raising some hell with your friends. Those were the good days but wait, they don’t have to be in the past. There is a great band that I saw last month, Shotgun Harlot when they opened up for 12 Stones at the historical Phoenix Theater in Petaluma. You can revisit my review of that night here: “‘Get Infected with 12 Stones”.  That was an awesome night and I really fell in love with Shotgun Harlot. Well I recently had the opportunity to interview Dylan D. Waltz lead singer of the band and here is what he had to say: Music Junkie Press:     How and when did Shotgun Harlot come together? Dylan Waltz:   I was in the process of piecing together a new band when a mutual friend of Joe and [Read More]

Miggs’ 15th & Hope brings you to life!

September 12, 2012

Guess what arrived yesterday?? Something I have been waiting for and it was definitely worth the wait! It was Miggs‘ new full length album, 15th & Hope.  I know I told you a little bit ago about how you have to take a listen to them well now I AM SHOUTING IT TO YOU! In case you didn’t get to pre-order the CD, get your butt online and download it from Itunes or order it from Amazon or maybe be like me and get a download and a CD! I immediately starting playing it and I have been in love with it ever since. They have such a successful  blend of alternative and melodic pop rock that brings you some great upbeat and fun music. This album reminds me when I first fell in love with Train or Matt Nathanson. It gives you that feel good music that you can listen to anytime of day. Make sure to take a listen and add MIGGS to your playlist.   15th & Hope was produced by 15 time [Read More]

Denmark dishes up some some Cold Black for great Hard Rock!

September 11, 2012

I have been listening lately to some great Heavy Hard Rock by the Danish Band, Cold Black. I discovered them a few weeks ago and have been anxiously waiting for their EP which is just released. They have a great heavy sound that reminds me of  some of my favorite bands, like Asking Alexandria blended with Black Veil Brides and a touch of Motley Crue old school style! Leave it to the Danish to give us some new awesome hard hitting rock as we continue to thank them for the great gift of Lars Ulrich. So coming from their hometown of Copenhagen, Denmark; Cold Black is Victor “Terry” Rimpler on Vocals and Bass, Alex Rimpler and Martin “Sane” Dupont on guitars and Jamal Aaron Gordon on drums. They have just released their new video which is produced by Torben Packert, and has Patrick Dræby Ravn on cameras/editing along with Production by Tobias Wiig Jørgensen, Lucas Haim & Pernille Bitsch and the assistance of Patrick Schouw & Anders Elgaard. Victor blends his charismatic chorus with his awesome hard hitting [Read More]

September 10, 2012

The great Neil Young and his wife Pegi have been organizing the wonderful Bridge School Benefit  for the past 25+ years in the Bay Area and held at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. Over the years, I have enjoyed donating to this great cause and being able watch front and center great acts like Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Sammy Hagar, Sonic Youth, Pearl Jam, Billy Idol, Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers, REM, Foo Fighters and so many more great bands….. Oh what a bunch of great shows the Bridge School Benefit has brought to me!!! I love them all and can’t wait for another great year. Well this year, you better get ready to ROCK and F*N ROLL because it is back to the basics of Rock n Roll and guess who is front and center?? I hear that Guns N Roses will be performing this year along with Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Jack White, Flaming Lips, Sarah McLachlan, Foster the People, Lucinda Williams, and [Read More]

Halestorm coming to San Francisco!

September 9, 2012

It is a great day today! I got my tickets to see one of my favorite bands, Halestorm at one of my favorite venues in San Francisco, Slim’s!! I just found out that Halestorm is returning to the San Francisco Bay Area. I am so glad because I have been trying to see Halestorm live for a few years now. First I was supposed to see them in SoCal and my trip got cancelled then they were coming to the Bay Area last year and that show got cancelled. The funny thing is that I have had the great opportunity of meeting them several times at other shows.  They are an awesome bunch of individuals! The first being when they played with Corey Taylor at his Las Vegas Hard Rock Show in 2010 and then again at his 2011 show. Then they came to San Francisco and I ended up in Las Vegas covering another show!! I was so mad.  We got to meet them again at the NAMM 2011 and NAMM 2012 shows and [Read More]

Hello World, It’s time to listen to Miggs!

August 30, 2012

My son Ryan and I had the pleasure of seeing a great band last year when they opened up for Candlebox and since then I have been listening to their music and following their career.  Please allow me to introduce them to you. “Hello World, I would like you to meet one of the hardest working bands out there, MIGGS and they have the great sound to back it all up!” Miggs has been around since 2001 and in that time were able to put out 5 great albums and they are not shy about touring. They are no stranger to booking upwards of 150 shows per year. When you watch them live, you can see how they truly enjoy what they are doing and their passion for their music shines through their songs. They have a great Rock/Pop sound but are so much more than just a title of a genre. With their incredible songwriting and their “feel good” music, they will have you dancing around in no time. They currently have their new [Read More]

Get Infected with 12 Stones!

August 24, 2012

Earlier this past week, I went to see 12 Stones perform at the historical Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, Ca. This theater was first opened in 1905 and held historical acts such as Harry Houdini and Lily Langtree. Over the years it has housed acts such as Metallica, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Ramones, Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins and so much more. The current owner Tom Gaffey has continued to keep it open as an all-ages music venue and I applaud him as to how he has gone through great lengths to keep music alive in our area. So I was excited to see 12 Stones would be playing there and they were even bringing along their touring band, Concordia which I had just been happily introduced to earlier in the month after hearing them open up for Smile Empty Soul.  In addition, three great local bands were added to the opening lineup. First up, we had Mirrors which delivered a punk rock sound and uses their music as a platform to discuss how the pornography industry [Read More]
