Hello World, It’s time to listen to Miggs!

August 30, 2012

My son Ryan and I had the pleasure of seeing a great band last year when they opened up for Candlebox and since then I have been listening to their music and following their career.  Please allow me to introduce them to you. “Hello World, I would like you to meet one of the hardest working bands out there, MIGGS and they have the great sound to back it all up!” Miggs has been around since 2001 and in that time were able to put out 5 great albums and they are not shy about touring. They are no stranger to booking upwards of 150 shows per year. When you watch them live, you can see how they truly enjoy what they are doing and their passion for their music shines through their songs. They have a great Rock/Pop sound but are so much more than just a title of a genre. With their incredible songwriting and their “feel good” music, they will have you dancing around in no time. They currently have their new [Read More]

Get Infected with 12 Stones!

August 24, 2012

Earlier this past week, I went to see 12 Stones perform at the historical Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, Ca. This theater was first opened in 1905 and held historical acts such as Harry Houdini and Lily Langtree. Over the years it has housed acts such as Metallica, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Ramones, Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins and so much more. The current owner Tom Gaffey has continued to keep it open as an all-ages music venue and I applaud him as to how he has gone through great lengths to keep music alive in our area. So I was excited to see 12 Stones would be playing there and they were even bringing along their touring band, Concordia which I had just been happily introduced to earlier in the month after hearing them open up for Smile Empty Soul.  In addition, three great local bands were added to the opening lineup. First up, we had Mirrors which delivered a punk rock sound and uses their music as a platform to discuss how the pornography industry [Read More]

Adler set to sail for their first live show!

August 23, 2012

Have you gotten your cabin booked yet for the Kiss Kruise?? Well, I know that if I could I would be there!! Yes, I have grown up listening to Kiss and do like their music but the number one reason for me to be there would be to see the Debut of Steven Adler’s new band; Adler.  Adler was recently added to the 2nd Kiss Kruise which is set to sail October 31, 2012 – November 4, 2012 departing from Miami, FL with a destination of Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas onboard the Norwegian Pearl. This will be the first live performance of Adler and after watching their video for their first single, ‘The One that you Hated” I am sure everyone is excited to see this band.  When you listen to them you can really appreciate the formation of an incredible band. You have Jacob Bunton of Lynam and Mars Electric on vocals whose voice reminds me of one of my favorite vocalists – Tommy Girvin (Tommy Girvin -Bulldozer Sessions and Eddie Money band), guitarist Lonny [Read More]

August 15, 2012

I just got word that one of the band’s that I am set to review this month was involved in a serious bus crash. Baroness is a progressive metal/rock/punk band that is from Savannah, Georgia and were recently touring in England. These guys sing, “Take My Bones Away” which has been steadily played on Octane Sirius and is from their new album; “Yellow and Green”. More on their music at a later time, now the details of the crash. It has been reported that they had been travelling from their Bristol show at the Fleece heading to South Hampton and their bus fell 30 ft from a viaduct near Bath. Emergency services were called out to Brassknocker Hill in Monkton Combe at the intersection of B3108 and A36 Westminster Road at 11:30 BST. Guns N Roses welcome you to Paradise (Sin) City

August 14, 2012

We all know about how successful Motley Crue’s residency shows at Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas were earlier this year. They had performed 12 incredible shows and we all were waiting for them to return. Well, it has just been announced that the Hard Rock Hotel will be housing another incredible 80’s Rock band for a residency later this year. Guns n Roses announced on their website yesterday that they will be taking up residency at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas with shows starting on Halloween (Oct. 31st) and conclude November 24th. Their residency is aptly titled “Appetite for Democracy”. I know how so many people have been waiting and waiting for a return of the original lineup but as we all know; you have better chances of winning the lottery! I know many fans have stated how they wouldn’t go see GnR unless it was an original lineup and I don’t feel that way. Guns N Roses was a big part of my growing up. Their music was my therapy during [Read More]

Smile Empty Soul and their new release 3’s

May 22, 2012

Today was the big day that I have been waiting for. The release date for Smile Empty Soul’s 3’s! I got to see Smile Empty Soul earlier this month at the Boardwalk in a small town outside of Sacramento for their Jagermesiter tour. That night was a long one with a six band lineup and we of course counted the minutes and waited for Smile Empty Soul to take the stage. They came out and right off had their die hard fans singing to “Don’t Ever Leave”. Then they played the single of their new album aptly titled 3’s, “Afterlife”. “Afterlife” has been receiving great airplay on XM Sirius Octane Channel and I am hoping with our help it will make it to the Big Uns Countdown soon. Well that night they had a pre-order available for their new album 3’s and I was of course rasing up front to buy it. So I waited and waited and then it came; that great little note in my INBOX letting me know that my Pre-Order of [Read More]

Burn Halo’s new lineup is Tearing it Down in Sacramento!

May 21, 2012

Burn Halo which was created by James Hart (frontman of Eighteen Visions) sometime in 2007. They recently went through some lineup changes. Don’t worry, Joey Roxx, their kick ass guitarist is right up front and center (well stage left to be exact!) They brought in Sonny Tremblay on drums, Chris Paterson on rhythm guitar and Ryan Frost on bass guitar. I have had the pleasure of seeing Burn Halo about 8 times since 2009 and I was ready to see Burn Halo with their new lineup at the Boardwalk- a small historical nightclub outside of Sacramento in Orangevale that has housed bands such as Hoobastank, Mudvayne, Thrice, Collective Soul, Black Veil Brides and so many more. For a complete list, visit their website listing of bands at www.http://www.boardwalkrocks.com/boardwalk.php So this night up on the bill would be a six band lineup to include: Force of Habit, Some Fear None, Track Fighter, The Veer Union, Burn Halo and headliner Smile Empty Soul on their Jagermeister tour.  One of the early times I saw Burn Halo is [Read More]
