Concert review The Word Alive with Coyotes, Polar and Annisokay. Contributed by Alex Bock

June 1, 2016

Wiesbaden, Schlachthof, May 23rd, 2016 This time I made a bit of a longer trip to cover a show for you and I chose the Schlachthof in Wiesbaden. The venue was recently rebuilt. It reopened at the end of 2015. Everything is still shiny and new and it’s a nice venue of the small and cozy kind. Just two months after the release of their recent record ‘Dark Matter’ The Word Alive went out on European Tour that included, besides a few German dates, also Slam Dunk Festival dates in the UK. By the time you read this, the tour is over and they’re back in the US relaxing and probably rehearsing for the upcoming Warped Tour Cycle, which the band will be on again. But back to the Wiesbaden show. Telle and Dani took their time to sit down with us and talk about the tour, the record, Warped Tour and much more. Check the interview out here: Show started around 7 pm. The Word Alive had three support bands, two of them [Read More]

The Struts
BottleRock Napa

The Struts are our BottleRock Napa 2016 highlight!

June 1, 2016

BottleRock Napa 2016 was a complete success featuring 80 musical acts, Michelin starred chefs, gourmet food, vendors and much more.  With performances by Stevie Wonder, Florence+ The Machine, Walk the Moon, Lenny Kravitz, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many more, there was a variety of musical acts to satisfy everyone.  We must point out that while many where drawn to the lineup by the headliners, there was one band in particular, that truly stole the show. The rock n rollers The Struts from Derby, UK had the crowd on their feet rocking out. They gave everyone a true rock show, complete with glam fashion, compelling stage presences and songs that invited the crowd to join in the rock revolution. Throughout the festival, when we asked many about which bands were their highlight, time and time again, The Struts topped the list! It is no surprise since we felt that exact exhilaration the first time we saw them perform live with Motley Crue in Las Vegas last year. You can’t help but feel that you are [Read More]

Jordan Smith kicks off his tour with a mesmerizing performance at The Chapel in San Francisco

May 31, 2016

It was a magical evening in San Francisco as we awaited the arrival of chart topping, record breaking artist Jordan Smith to the stage at The Chapel. It was our first time at the historic 1914 building that has been transformed into a beautiful live music venue to include full bar and restaurant in the heart of the Mission District. It was the perfect setting as the backdrop for the “best selling artist in the history of NBC’s The Voice” to entertain the crowd with his amazing vocals as he embarks on his first headlining tour. Jordan entered the stage with a full band in tow and kicked the show right off. His set was filled with both original songs and cover tracks which can be found on his debut album, Something Beautiful. The crowd cheered in high praise as he took us on a journey of musical bliss. His voice, being so powerful, carries a depth of emotion and yet can reach the highest peaks with perfection.  You couldn’t help, but be held in [Read More]

Excitement at Cowboys and Turbans Wednesday night as  David Alfaro caps an all-star Latin lineup

May 26, 2016

(Los Angeles) The excitement was so thick you could chew on it at Silver Lake’s Cowboys and Turbans club Wednesday night as Julieta Isela took the stage and welcomed the buzzing crowd to an intimate night of Latin music headlined by the rising LA-based singing star, David Alfaro.  “He is going to be right there onstage,” two young women behind me whispered, not noticing that David was sitting two tables away from them surrounded by fans and friends.   The Cuban-born actress/musician Ilza Rosario has just wrapped up a rocking set of keyboard- driven tunes, following the soft guitar and love songs of the young Brazilian artist Grecco Buratto when Isela took the microphone to introduce the night’s star.  Every chair will filled, every table crammed with drinks and cellphones, every square inch of wall supported a leaning body, and heads were craning from around the corner of the hall to catch of glimpse of Alfaro. He did not disappoint.  Although the set was shorter than the room wanted, the six songs he delivered  – [Read More]
