Concert Review Funeral For A Friend – Last Chance To Dance – tour with ZOAX and Shai Hulud

April 5, 2016

Munich, Kranhalle (Feierwerk),  March 29th, 2016   Funeral For A Friend are currently on a farewell tour through different countries. They say goodbye to their audience after 15 years. With them on this tour are ZOAX, a relatively new band from the UK and Shai Hulud, a US based band that is in the business for about 20 years now. There’s always two shows in a row with playthroughs of the band’s first two records ‘Casually Dressed & Deep In Conversation’ and `Hours’.   Opening band was ZOAX. They’re from the UK and formed in 2013. It was their third time playing in Germany, so far always as an opening band. We were lucky to catch Adam Carroll (vocals) and Doug Wotherspoon (guitar) for an interview that you can check out here: It was my second time to see them play, first was with Nothing More in November 2015. Both times were great. Adam has an awesome way to interact with the audience, inviting them several times to come closer to the stage and [Read More]

The Struts deliver stellar performance as they kick off their U.S. Tour

March 31, 2016

It was a Monday night in Santa Barbara and the line to the Velvet Jones venue was long and filled with excited music lovers. It was the opening night for The Struts as they began their US headlining tour and Santa Barbara was the first stop. The show had been sold out for a while and we couldn’t wait to see them. We first caught The Struts live as they opened for Motley Crue in Las Vegas in December. They blew us away, and to be able to see them in a much more intimate venue such as Velvet Jones, was a dream come true. The diverse crowd which included fans of all ages were anxiously awaiting the show. The night kicked off with a great set from alternative rockers, The Shelters. They have such raw energy that grabs your attention and has you instantly hooked. Check out some photos by our Rockin Ryan: The energy continued on as Bleeker hit the stage. They brought a garage-grunge rock vibe to the crowd, complete with hooky heavy sounds [Read More]

Kawehi at the Hotel Café: smiles, trash talk and a loop machine.

March 30, 2016

(Hollywood) When Kawehi comes on stage it is her smile that first grabs you.  It’s a friendship smile…she is happy to be there and she is happy to be there with you – yes, you.  This is not just a gig supporting her new Kickstarter-funded album, Interaktiv; this is 250 friends kicking back and having a great time with their favorite artist in a sold-out concert at the Hotel Café Friday night.   Kawehi navigated her way around various pieces of musical equipment and technological gear as she came onstage, but all the while she kept that smile.  After getting settled in front of her keyboards, loop machines and computers, she greeted friends and fans with waves and shout outs.  We  were hooked, even before she played the first  note.   When she did play that first note, we were more than hooked; we were ecstatic.  She set the hook with “Smoke Screens”, launching a trap beat and then dancing around the stage, checking the connection to her guitar, putting her magic hands on the [Read More]

Interview with Robert and TJ of Escape the Fate at Fresno show.

March 26, 2016

Escape the Fate have been quite busy with some extensive touring in support of their latest release Hate Me. With the album being out for less than six months, they have continued to deliver high energy shows as well as receive high praises. We had the chance to catch them as they played at Strummers in Fresno, CA last Thursday. It was the night before their last show of the tour and they once again gave the crowd a high dose of explosive rock. We caught up with Robert and TJ before their set and are pleased to bring that interview to you here:   The night kicked off with a great sets by local bands, Days Under Authority and Hideouts. They got the venue ready to rage and New Years Day continued to take them to new levels with a ferocious set that had the crowd singing along and moshing to every tune. Just when you thought the crowd was at it’s peak, they digged deep and raged even harder as Escape the Fate took [Read More]

Monster Enerty Outbreak Tour kicks off in San Francisco with Issues and more.

March 20, 2016

The Monster Energy Outbreak Tour kicked off this past weekend in San Francisco at The Regency Ballroom. The tour features Issues, Crown the Empire, ONE OK Rock and Night Verses. With the diverse lineup, it drew in a great crowd. The night kicked off with a nice heavy dose of genre-defying music by Night Verses. With their dark lighting and high energy, they created an intense energy that got everyone pumped. Check out some photos: Next up was the amazing rock band from Japan, ONE OK Rock. I was looking forward to seeing them again since being first introduced to them at Vans Warped Tour a couple years back and seeing them at Aftershock 2015. They delivered a flawless set with unrivaled high energy. The energy these guys bring to the stage is infectious and you can’t help but feel the adrenaline flowing through you as they play.  They are jumping around the stage as their adrenaline can’t be contained. You couldn’t help but be in awe of the jumps and stage performance. We were [Read More]

Shinedown brings a fierce rock set to Santa Rosa

March 9, 2016

The Wells Fargo Event Center last Saturday night was definitely ROCKIN! Shinedown made a stop on their tour here in Santa Rosa and blew the roof off the Wells Fargo center. It was a full fledged rock show which doesn’t happen that often here in Santa Rosa, especially of the Shinedown caliber. The Virginmarys opened the night with their infectious punk edged rock set. You can read more about their set here. The venue was packed to near capacity and Shinedown delivered an amazing set. It was great to see how this band that we fell in love with nearly a decade ago brought back “the feels” once again when they performed. They gave us a set filled with fan favorites, some oldies, and several new songs from their latest album, Threat to Survival and even a couple fun filled verses of Cyndi Lauper’s Time After Time. The crowd was on their feet from nearly start to finish in the seated venue. The energy was rampant and you could feel the spirit and good energy [Read More]
