Get your Rock and Roll Fix with Shotgun Harlot!

September 26, 2012

Sometimes with music today, I long to hear down and dirty ROCK n ROLL!! You know what I am talking about, right? The kind of Rock that has you with your fists in the air, drink in the other hand and just raising some hell with your friends. Those were the good days but wait, they don’t have to be in the past. There is a great band that I saw last month, Shotgun Harlot when they opened up for 12 Stones at the historical Phoenix Theater in Petaluma. You can revisit my review of that night here: “‘Get Infected with 12 Stones”.  That was an awesome night and I really fell in love with Shotgun Harlot. Well I recently had the opportunity to interview Dylan D. Waltz lead singer of the band and here is what he had to say: Music Junkie Press:     How and when did Shotgun Harlot come together? Dylan Waltz:   I was in the process of piecing together a new band when a mutual friend of Joe and [Read More]

The Kinected
80s

Have you been Kinected yet?

August 25, 2012

The 80’s not only had some great Rock and Roll but it also provided a time to enjoy New Wave and Modern Rock music. Well those times are long gone…. But guess what, there is a great new band out there called The Kinected  that is bringing it all back to life, blended with their own unique sound that is taking the airwaves by storm. It is great feel good music that reminds me of the first time I heard Pet Shop Boys or Duran Duran. They have an amazing  sound that is a fresh blend of rock, pop,  funk and an electro edge. There first single “Hypnotize” from their new album titled Evolution #9 has been dominating airplay on XM Sirius Channel 3 “20 on 20”. It will have you moving and wanting more and more! The Kinected is Ron Anthony on vocals, Alex Zapatier on guitar, Mike B on bass and Marck Mangel on drums. I had the opportunity to interview vocalist Ron Anthony who has such a smooth voice on this album. Here [Read More]

Interview

Spend some time with Fall from Grace

July 19, 2012

“Too many people settle for ordinary lives when they are extraordinary people” – That is one of my most favorite pieces of advice and it came from my interview with Tryg Littlefield of Fall From Grace. Fall From Grace is a five piece Rock band hailing from Seattle. They recently toured with Saving Abel and we had a chance to catch up with Tryg Littlefield; vocals and rhythm guitar for the band. These guys bring so much energy and emotion into their songs that leave the listener with a deeper connection to them. I really enjoy their music and look forward to seeing them out on the road. We will have our full audio interview on the webzine but until then, I wanted to share some of the interview with you all. Music Junkie Press:      I understand you recently released your third full length album called The Romance Years. I have to tell you I love it. I have listed to it and loved it! I love what I hear on this album. You actually bring [Read More]

Talking with State Line Empire about Golden Girls, Tequila and Guitar Center!

May 23, 2012

Hard Rock Band State Line Empire is from my hometown of San Mateo. You may be familiar with this band since they won the Guitar Center’s Your Next Record with Slash contest and released their EP “Octane” which featured Slash on their song “Drive Me”.  I was excited  to see State Line Empire open up for Steven Adler’s band Adler’s Appetite at the Red Devil Lounge in San Francsico last year. These guys are incredible live and have such a great energy playing together. It is no wonder they won! State Line Empire features Tyson Yen on  Vocals, Dave Pearl on  Bass, Cat Place on Guitar and Jay Michaelis on Drums.   I had the great opportunity to interview this incredible band and I hope you enjoy getting to know these guys as much as I did. The interview was with Tyson, Dave and Cat. Music Junkie Press:    How did you guys form your band? Tyson:    We all worked together in a previous project and we all got a long great. Soon after, it just seemed very obvious [Read More]
