Bishop Briggs brings powerful performance to The Warfield in San Francisco

It was a hot June day in 2016 where we first saw Bishop Briggs perform live. She was performing in the small DJ tent at Live 105’s BFD and was one of the main artists that we were there to cover.  She blew us away that first time and we knew she was heading to the top!

Over the years, we witnessed her perform at BottleRock, Fox Theater and many more venues, including the legendary Fillmore in SF where we were able to interview her. You can watch that 2017 interview here. I remember telling her how her music was an instant mood elevator and it still rings true today.

We caught Bishop Briggs perform last night with MisterWives on The Don’t Look Down Tour at The Warfield in San Francisco. It was as she visualized, creating the best amazing night. She hit the stage with Art of Survival and the crowd went wild.  Her charismatic energy sparked the stage and ignited us with true passion. She gives so much of herself, in each and every performance and the crowd quickly reciprocated with gratitude.

A highlight of the set was seeing her perform Baggage live. This song has been getting me through the hardest time this summer. I lost my sister Laura to a rare cancer, mucosal melanoma and listening to Baggage was a cathartic release for me. It is what got me through the long nights of grief and loss. It isn’t the first time that Bishop Briggs music has helped us heal. Her release of Church of Scars in 2018 was the soundtrack for us during the loss of our home in the Santa Rosa wildfires. The music has become the playlist for our good and bad times, the celebrations and the losses, the love and the heartache. That is true music; when you can feel the songs take over you and fill you with emotions.

Earlier this year Bishop Briggs released her latest album, When Everything Went Dark and is a powerful body of work that explores mental health struggles and overcoming loss. You can check it out HERE. Check out the video for her track Bad,
