Sunday night at the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma was a magical one. We were excited for the arrival of Lacey Sturm, who is out on tour with Otep, September Mourning, Doll Skin and Through Fire. The legendary Phoenix Theater which was named after rising from the ashes after several fires in it’s history, served as the perfect backdrop for such an amazing night of inspiring music by Lacey.

She has embarked on tour in support of her solo album, Life Screams which was released in February 2016. It is not only a bad ass hard rockin album, but it is a musical gem gleaming with honest raw emotionally driven tracks that have the power to help, heal or inspire the listener. Lacey creates a solid connection to the listener and brings a light to those who might be in a dark place. This album is one of my favorites and to see her perform live on Sunday, was spellbinding and uplifting. We had the chance to chat with Lacey before her set and are pleased to bring that interview to you here:

The show kicked off with a high energy set by up and coming all girl band, Doll Skin. The energy continued with some great sets by the local bands. September Mourning brought quite a theatrical zeal with their set that was a crowd pleaser.  When Lacey hit the stage with her band, the energy raced through the crowd and you could feel the emotion in the air. Not only from Lacey and her music, but from the crowd. We could see fans with tears in their eyes as they connected with Lacey, and her songs were providing the much needed solace of a warm hug. It was blissful, magical, and quite spiritual. It is probably one of my most favorite concerts that I have attended. You could see the audience “in the moment” and not with phones in the air or distractions around. It was a gravitational pull to Lacey as her charismatic and magnetic personality drew you in closer. Her powerful voiced filled the room and uplifted the crowd. Check out some photos by our Rockin Ryan here:

Her set included all my favorite songs off her new album as well as her song, Heavy Prey which appears on the soundtrack to ‘Underworld Awakening,’  her killer cover of Roxanne by The Police, as well as a finishing off with a spectacular Flyleaf Medley.  I don’t want to spoil it for you with any set list but just know it will be one amazing night. Check the dates below as the tour treks across North America and don’t miss this one!
