Lemmy Kilmister, Father of Metal just needs a little more rest

Lemmy

Just yesterday we heard about Motorhead having to cancel not just another show but the entire European tour dates due to Lemmy Kilmister’s health.  There was quite a flurry of concern as  many news sites were reporting, Lemmy’s “failing health”,  “Lemmy not looking too good” and other serious concerns. It led to all of us concerned about the future of our Father of Metal!! Earlier this year Lemmy had a defibrilator  chest implant installed to treat his irregular heartbeat and assist in regulating him.  He also most recently suffered from an unspecified hematoma, which if Lemmy is on any type blood thinners could lead to a more serious problem.

Today Lemmy released his own post about the cancellation on his Facebook page. Here is that post:

“Regretfully, Motörhead announces it has had to cancel its remaining six summer festival appearances. The band hate to let their fans down by missing any shows, but they expect to be back in full force this Fall.

As you may have heard, earlier this Spring Lemmy had some medical maintenance for the long-term good, He was, at that time, advised to rest, but once feeling better, he of course resumed his life as usual. He has since been advised that he should immediately take some more time to rest

Lemmy says: I’d like to thank everyone who wish me well, it was a tough decision for me as I don’t like to disappoint the fans especially in times where economy is bad and people spent their money to see us. But sometimes you can’t do anything else than following doctor’s orders, but be sure we will be
back and kick everybody’s ass.

There you have it! You can now stop worrying, redirect those cards, flowers and chocolates to a loved one (who will appreciate them far more), keep calm and carry on! Lemmy and Motörhead certainly are! Thanks and see you in the Fall for their new album in the form of a massive Aftershock…”

We all wish Lemmy well and are grateful that he is heeding the doctors orders and taking the time to rest and recuperate. I have no doubt that Lemmy will be coming back stronger and ready to kick our asses with their new album!

So for now, let’s crank some Motorhead. I leave you with my top 10 Motorhead songs as well as a slideshow of photos we took at Motorhead‘s show last year on July 1, 2012 at Shoreline.

  1. Outstanding news and ‘live’ pictures! Isn’t ‘Killed By Death’ an amazing song or what?! That’s my #1 Motörhead song of all-time! I dig your Top Ten Motörhead songs, cannot blame you one bit!! ‘Ace of Spades’ is an iconic song. My next 2 Motörhead all-time fave songs: ‘One Track Mind’ and ‘Just ‘cos You Got the Power’ 🙂 m/m/

    • Yes!! I had a couple others and had to change them. I felt like an episode of That Metal Show!! One Track Mind is awesome and Just cos you got the Power!! Definitely looking forward to the new album.
The pix were from last year and it was the BEST SHOW EVER!!! They played so long and we were melting in the sun, then right after Slayer came on but everyone was talking about Motorhead all night long!

      • Amazing! You must had been so thrilled to be that close! Motörhead ‘live’ is an experience! Even their ‘live’ records are just in-your-face! I remember the first time I heard Motörhead (from a ‘live’ bootleg on an 8-track) and I was schooled! The rest is history for me! LOL!!

  2. Ace of Spades is THE BEST SONG OF MOTORHEAD EVER. It is like historical or something, a piece of history
