Steven Kent’s Cash & King Live deliver an exceptional performance at Santa Rosa’s House of Rock

This weekend, we had the pleasure of catching Steven Kent’s Cash & King: The Ultimate Celebration of the Legends at the House of Rock. I was excited to listen some Johnny Cash and Elvis music, never expecting to be whisked away on a nostalgic journey of music. First we must explain that Cash & King is not a cover band or a tribute band set on impersonating the artist. It is a group of phenomenal musicians who come together to celebrate the music of the legendary Johnny Cash and Elvis. Each member of the band is supremely talented and they delivered a spot on performance.

The night kicked off with a superb set of Johnny Cash songs, sprinkled with interesting anecdotes and tales from Steven. His magnetic personality and the passion he has for these artists shines through his stage presence and storytelling.  Then when he begins to sing, you are immediately transported to the memories that the songs held for you. They brought the music to life and the crowd was fully engaged and mesmerized. Couples danced, fans sang along, clapping and cheering throughout the set. Next up was a set of Elvis music and once again, the memories came flooding through as they performed. I couldn’t help but think of my father and his love of Elvis. Oh how, he would have enjoyed this night! It was a well rounded set as it must have been quite a task to narrow down such a large catalog of legendary songs and pair it down to a 16-18 song set list. I got chills when they performed the beautiful and emotional In The Ghetto. It was simply magical.  The crowd went wild when they played Return To Sender, Heartbreak Hotel, Hound Dog, and Burning Love. The energy was infectious as they couldn’t help but dance around.

Another highlighted moment was when Steven told the story of his trip to Elvis Week in Graceland and how he wrote the beautiful song, Would He Believe. The song is on Steven’s album Dream & Believe which you can pick up by heading over here: http://stevenkentmusic.com/albums/. Song after song, the hits kept coming. Of course, when they performed Can’t Help Falling In Love, I was in complete bliss. It took me back to the memory of my wedding and I was flooded with emotion and the memories of such a beautiful time.

I was truly on the edge of my seat with anticipation of what song might be played next. It was exciting! Exhilarating! and I can’t wait to see them again. Check out some photos of the set by Rockin Ryan:
