Yesterday, Tiger Army released their highly anticipated new album, V•••– and it has already been garnering high praises. It is definitely an attention grabber. it truly captures a vintage punk rockabilly vibe that will deliver a haunting yet compelling 50’s nostalgia. The record release show was held at The Regency Ballroom and it was a complete success!
The night kicked off with a fierce set from The Memphis Murder Men and drew the crowd into their vintage rock n roll punk infused world. We look forward to seeing them again and will feature them in an upcoming post. Check out some photos by our Rockin Ryan:
Stellar Corpses came up next and wowed the crowd with their performance. With many genres inspired, the fusion of their music satisfies the punk, rock world, and more. The venue was creeping to full capacity as Tiger Army was set to hit the stage. The crowd went wild as they began with Prelude: Ad Victoriam and went right into Firefall. The energy flowed through the crowd like a raging fire. It was amazing to see so many fans singing along to the new song, as it has been out less than a month.
The set featured a well balance of new songs and fan favorites, as well as a couple incredible covers. Longtime fans went wild when they performed True Romance, which many saw them play at their first show at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, back in 1996. The adrenaline fueled a massive pit that was surreal to watch from above.
Tiger Army has such a commanding presence that literally engulfs your senses. You are “in the moment” from start to finish, phone tucked away, and eyes glued to the stage with your fist in the air, singing along. It is moments like these, that remind us of how magical music truly is. Their music is fueled with endless passion that ushers in a warmth of excitement and an emotional release.
