Waxwyng

Just over an hour North of San Francisco, lies Santa Rosa. The rock and metal music scene has had a tough time for the past few years here. We lost our only Metal/Rock radio station, 101.7 the Fox a couple years back, a string of night club closures including the most recent of the Last Day Saloon.  You might think that with all this happening, Metal and Hard Rock is scarce up here, but local Heavy Metal Band Waxwyng is making sure it is here to stay!

Waxwyng are five guys who deliver some energetic progressive metal with influences from Classic Rock, Thrash, and much  more. You have the powerhouse vocals of Matt Cruz, Edgard Duenes and Will Reyes  shredding on guitars, Alex Wilson slamming on bass, and kicking ass on drums is Andreas Hernandez.

Their influences have been listed as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Pantera, Metallica, Skid Row Periphery, Tool and the list can go on. You really can hear their influences in their music. They are not there to imitate, just to create. They have combined these influences and created a completely new sound that is their own and brings together many subgenres of the metal and hard rock scene.  You can check out a video here of their most recent show at the Live Musicians Co-Op here in Santa Rosa:

They have an energetic show that leaves you satisfied but wanting more of their music! Waxwyng is currently offering two free Downloads of their songs on their Reverbnation page, one of my favorites “Odyssey” and another great one “Remove yourself”.  They are recently getting a lot of attention and have just had their song End of Days hit radio play.  You can purchase Waxwyng ‘s full lenght CD ‘Leap of Faith” digitally on the following site: http://waxwyng.bandcamp.com/ or you can get the physical copy at Amazon here.

Even better, if you are up here in Northern California get yourself to one of their upcoming shows! You will be happy you did as Waxwyng takes you on a wild heavy metal ride. Upcoming show dates are listed below as well as their social media sites. Make sure to check them out and we will be featuring them in the feature with interviews, live footage and show reviews. I will leave you with a montage video of Waxwyng that will leave you pumped and ready to come join us at their next show!
