For Tuesdays Travels I not only introduce you to the incredible music of Ben Draiman but I also have a review of his incredible EP “The Past is Not Far Behind” Ben was born and raised in Chicago but currently resides in Israel so he is our Tuesdays Travels pick of the week! This EP is truly a musical gem that will have you captivated by the emotionally driven vocals and melodic rock style. A perfect combination! If you are a fan of Coldplay or Shinedown… I think I found you your new favorite album…..
First song off the EP is Soon Enough and is the perfect start. It has a beautiful piano intro that introduces Ben’s mysterious yet comforting vocals. it builds up to an incredible rock style that emotionally draws you in. Lyrically I am blown away and just can’t wait to see what the next song brings me.
Avalanche starts in and you can’t help but enjoy the Black Sabbath guitar with touches of Blue Oyster Cult style thrown in to accentuate Ben’s melodic vocals. Again it has me lyrically amazed. Ben, I am bummed I haven’t heard you sooner!!! They have an incredible video out for Avalanche that you can’t help but love. Check it out here:
Next up is 21 Seconds and it is like a true love ballad with the catchy melody and enveloping piano.
Would You Know Love has a great acoustic guitar intro and just blends into a touching symphonic sound and spectacular lyrics.
Overcome is a song that personally is my favorite. I know that songs bring to each of us different memories or feelings but for myself, this song just reminds me of the whole confusion of what I call life after I lost my father two years ago. For some reason, it just speaks to me about how I am literally trying to just hang on sometimes even when I feel so overwhelmed by the loss of my father, my best friend, my world. I love this song. For you it may mean something so different but I just wanted to share with you what this song brought to me. Ben, thank you for the gift of this song.
Taken for Granted is the perfect song to finish with and almost gives you a lesson in life meshed with touching lyrics that just can’t help you feel ALIVE. This song starts off with a soft intro that just breaks into a rock song that almost brings you to an anthemic feel and has you feeling and wanting more out of life. It actually lifts you up and reminds you that you are living on borrowed time, make the best of it. There is time to make a difference within yourself or with whatever you want. Very uplifting song that I just truly love.
Ben has been working on new material for his next album and is about to release a new cover song in October. He has been playing and singing since I was 13 years old as he was growing up was influenced by a variety of music including Depeche Mode and Bon Jovi. Ben Draiman‘s music is currently available on his site www.bendraiman.com or Itunes, Spotify, Amazon, etc.
One thing Ben wants everyone to know is, “Please come over and add me on Facebook. I take pride in spending time interacting with fans. Your comments and feedback are very important to me!” So please head over and tell him you heard about him from our Tuesdays Travels and he is definitely an incredible pick! So for this Tuesdays Travels, whether you are looking for music to feed your soul, touch your heart or inspire you; Ben Draiman is the answer.
