BottleRock Napa 2016 is a stellar success and proves to be the must attend festival of the year!

BottleRock 2016 has proven to be the must-attend event of the year! It was a stellar success bringing in more than 120,000 attendees over the course of the three days. The festival featured 80 musical acts and closed out with the high energy of The Red Hot Chili Peppers. It also featured the Williams-Sonoma Culinary stage as musicians were teamed up with Michelin-starred chefs to created dishes and entertain the crowd.

We will be bringing you our full coverage of the festival and the 80 musical performances. It was one long hot weekend, but was truly a highlight of our journalist career. Ā The festival was run so smoothly and attendees were boasting it as “the best ever” with plenty of music, excellent foods, variety of wines and beverages, and complete with a staff that was accommodating and helpful with every need.

Dates for the 2017 BottleRock were announced during the finale of the Red Hot Chili Peppers performance. Ā Mark your calendars…. Next yearā€™s BottleRock Napa Valley festival will be held May 26 ā€“ 28. Dave Graham, CEO and co-founder of Latitude 38 Entertainment comments,

Celebrity attendees throughout the weekend includedĀ Miles Teller,Ā Melissa EtheridgeĀ and her sonĀ Jason Crosby,Ā Lars UlrichĀ andĀ Robert TrujilloĀ of Metallica,Ā Darren Criss,Ā Teri Hatcher, andĀ TrĆ©Ā CoolĀ andĀ Mike DirntĀ of the band Greenday.

Musical highlights from day three of BottleRock Napa Valley included:

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Red Hot Chili PeppersĀ wrapped up the festival after taking the JaM Cellar Main Stage. The internationally acclaimed band played for a sea of thousands some of their biggest hits including ā€œCalifornication,ā€ ā€œOthersideā€ and ā€œSnow (Hey Oh).ā€

Ā Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Denver-based stomp-and-clap acoustic rock, classic pop, and front-porch folk bandĀ The LumineersĀ gave their fans an epic performance including their fan-favorite ā€œHo Hey.ā€

Ā Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā The Helmets, a four-pre-teen-member band, unleashed a surprise for the crowd as the bassistā€™s dad, Robert Trujillo (who happens to be heavy metal band Metallicaā€™s own bassist!) joined the quad for a performance.

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā X AmbassadorsĀ ignited their fans when they performed their mega hit ā€œRenegadesā€ and ā€œUnsteady.ā€

Meanwhile on the Williams-Sonoma Culinary Stage:

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Headliner and Food Networkā€™sĀ Chef Tyler Florence, joined byĀ Iron ChefĀ judgeĀ Billy Harris, used a sling-shot to propel his famous Wayfare Fried Chicken into the crowd.

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Chef Michael VoltaggioĀ gaveĀ Chad SmithĀ of Red Hot Chili Peppers andĀ Taylor HawkinsĀ of Foo Fighters a lesson in cooking before the band members knocked over the the drum sets in true rock star form.

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā X Ambassadors,Ā MisterwivesĀ andĀ Chef Charles PhanĀ competed in a Vietnamese spring rolls cook-off that resulted in an entertaining segment for the culinary and music fans watching.

Musical highlights from Friday and Saturday of BottleRock Napa Valley included:

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā HeadlinerĀ Stevie WonderĀ took to the JaM Cellar Main Stage spreading his message of love and unity. Wonder also stressed the importance of voting to ensure a promising future for our nation. He closed out his set with spectacular covers of Princeā€™s ā€œWhen Doves Cryā€ and ā€œKiss,ā€ The Beatlesā€™ ā€œI Want to Hold Your Hand,ā€ David Bowieā€™s ā€œFame,ā€ and Eaglesā€™ ā€œHotel California.ā€ Throughout the performance, the legendary performer would stop to ask the crowd, ā€œWhatā€™s my name?ā€ ā€“ to which they chanted ā€œDJ Chick Chick Boom.ā€ His set concluded with his famed hit ā€œSuperstition.ā€

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Michael FrantiĀ classically embraced his well-known barefoot style and appearing throughout the festival grounds sans footwear. During Michael Franti & Spearheadā€™s musical performance, Franti pulled a child fan on stage to join him in the singing of their single ā€œThe Sound of Sunshine.ā€

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā The crowd of thousands went wild immediately asĀ Lenny KravitzĀ performed fan-favorites like ā€œAmerican Womanā€ and ā€œFly Away.ā€

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Andy GrammerĀ roused the JaM Cellar Main Stage as he performed ā€œKeep Your Head Upā€ and ā€œHoney, Iā€™m Good.ā€

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā GrouploveĀ rocked the Midway Stage with their mega hits ā€œColoursā€ and ā€œWays to Go.ā€

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā International superstarĀ Florence + The MachineĀ put on an electrifying act twirling across the stage and running through the crowd performing some of her hit songs including ā€œDog Days Are Over,ā€ ā€œShip to Wreckā€ and ā€œShake It Out.ā€ Her fans, which stretched out into the thousands, chanted ā€œFlorenceā€ in between songs begging for more.

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Walk The MoonĀ utilized the entire JaM Cellar Main Stage as band members ran and jumped from end to end performing songs such as ā€œShut Up and Danceā€ and ā€œWork Your Body.ā€ Lead singer Nicholas Petricca ended the act by running into the audience for hugs and selfies with the fans.

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Death Cab for CutieĀ took to the stage performing their hit singles ā€œSoul Meets Bodyā€ and ā€œWhy Youā€™d Want to Live Hereā€ for the anticipating sea of people.

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Reggae rockerĀ Ziggy MarleyĀ paid tribute to his late father, Bob Marley, as he performed ā€œOne Loveā€ on the Midway Stage.

Highlights from Fridayā€™s and Saturdayā€™s Williams-Sonoma Culinary Stage included:

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Chef Gordon RamsayĀ put host Liam Mayclem through aĀ Master ChefĀ crash course,Ā and was ultimately ā€œunimpressedā€ with his ability to cook scallops. Chef Ramsay jokingly put Mayclem on blast and threw his dish across the stage causing it to shatter. Mayclem took the critique in strides as the unlikely duo laughed off the failed dish.

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Alluding to their cult classic ā€œUp In Smoke,ā€Ā Cheech & ChongĀ gave a hilarious smoked salmon cooking performance withĀ Chef Chris Cosentino. Cheech was then treated to a belated birthday gift as the crowd sang ā€œHappy Birthdayā€ to him in perfect unison.

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā After learning how to bake a pie fromĀ Chef Maya EricksonĀ and her mom,Ā American Pieā€™sĀ Thomas Ian NicholasĀ gave fans a dose of nostalgia by reprising the hit song ā€œMy Generationā€ from the hit film.

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Iron Chef Masaharu MorimotoĀ had a massive 132-pound tuna shipped from Japan for a spectacular culinary demonstration withĀ TrĆ© CoolĀ andĀ Mike DirntĀ of Green Day. Cool treated the crowd to a surprise solo on the custom-made Williams-Sonoma drum kit, a one-of-a-kind set created from pots and pans.

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Travel Channel hostĀ Adam RichmanĀ stunned fans as he freestyle-rapped his entire cooking demonstration, paying homage to his honorary sous chefs,Ā The Pharcyde.

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Atlas GeniusĀ andĀ GrouploveĀ joinedĀ Top Chef Mei LinĀ for an epic bake-off. In the dessert showdown, the group created unique treats using ingredients from the bandsā€™ tour riders.

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Former San Francisco 49erĀ Dwight ClarkĀ revived his football skills as he played catch with Seattleā€™s famous Pike Place Fish throwers during Beard Award-winningĀ Chef Michael Minaā€™sĀ cooking performance.
