We recently brought you the creative video for Horizon from the progressive metalcore band, Circuitry. Next we would like you to get to know them better and are pleased to bring you an interview with them:

Music Junkie Press: Thank you very much for taking the time out to talk with us here at Music Junkie Press. We have been enjoying the creative video for Horizon. That was a lot of work! Who came up with the concept on it?

Circuitry:  That was all Matt Provenzano, the director of the video. We had the general idea of wanting the video to look very vivid and colorful and he just took it to another level.

Music Junkie Press: Your music really fuses together classic metalcore, progressive metal and more. Who were some of the bands that most influenced you in your creative development?

Circuitry:  There’s a band called Sikth that we really love and admire. You can definitely hear a lot of Killswitch Engage influence in our music. Countless others as well like Dillinger Escape Plan, Devin Townsend, Paramore.

Music Junkie Press: We understand you have a big show coming up for the All Stars Tour on July 31st. Can you tell us what everyone can expect at that show?

Circuitry:  Just Circuitry bringing their A-game and playing with a lot of great bands! We aim to make our set a full on display of sheer brutality.

Music Junkie Press: With the addition of Jason on the bass versus the bass robot, have you felt the energy just increase and the organic feel come to life in the songs performed live?

Circuitry:  Jason is actually a cybernetic organism sent back in time in order to prevent this band from failing. Our shows have felt significantly more organic and energetic since replacing the backtrack with Jason.

Music Junkie Press: With the ever changing music industry, bands have had to work harder at getting their name and music out in front of fans. How have you guys dealt with that and the social media sites not sharing band info, dates, etc.?

Circuitry: Yes of course. We started Circuitry preemptively knowing that not everyone treats bands the way they should be treated. We try our best to avoid those people.

Music Junkie Press: Have the four of you worked together and written new music?

Circuitry:  No, not particularly. We’re all songwriters at heart, so we’re always coming up with riffs or parts we think sound cool. But, we’re not ready to be releasing any new material anytime soon.

Music Junkie Press: If you guys could put together your dream lineup, what three bands would you like to tour with? Sikth, Paramore and Dillinger Escape Plan

Music Junkie Press: What is next for you guys?

Circuitry: Hopefully hitting the road and keep building our fanbase nationwide!

Music Junkie Press: You guys have mentioned you are working on some play through videos, when will those be out and can you tell us more about them?

Circuitry:  One of them is up right now actually! You can watch it below:  Another one will be filmed upon the arrival of Jason’s new bass.

Music Junkie Press: We here in Northern California have been struggling to keep the music venues open, how is the live music scene where you are?

Circuitry: It’s not too terrible. There are a great deal of bands who sincerely love writing and playing heavy music. Some have this misconception that being in a band is going to make them a ton of money and get a ton of chicks…which obviously isn’t the case because we’re still in NJ working day jobs.

Music Junkie Press: We feel that seeing a band perform live is rewarding beyond so many levels, could you tell maybe your new fans what they can expect at a Circuitry concert?

Circuitry:  Our first goal when performing is obviously to play well, but if you separate the sport of playing music from the art of creating music, our goals might look something more like conveying the most awesome and awful things about ourselves and the world we inhabit, if that makes any sense.

Music Junkie Press: Lastly is there anything else you would like to share with our audience and your fans?

Circuitry: Thanks to all who continue to support us and to those of you who are listening to us for the first time – keep listening…give us a chance! Don’t be so quick to close your browser tab.

In case you missed the Horizon video, check it out here:

Circuitry was born from the ashes of Dark Empire as drummer Matt Guglielmo and guitarist Christian Colabelli played together in Dark Empire. After creating songs for the new album, vocalist Joel Monet heard the songs and became inspired. Together the three continued on and even played shows with a bass robot, (bass DI tracks from the computer re-amped through a bass cab).  Soon after, Jason Mingalone joined as bassist.
