The bad ass punk rockers Barb Wire Dolls are just about to perform their last show in USA tomorrow night at the legendary Whisky A GoGo. They will be heading back to Greece to work on new music for 2016. We were so glad we had the chance to catch them Friday night at the Above DNA Lounge in San Francisco. We were not going to miss them and made sure we arrived early to catch all the opening bands.
The night kicked off with a highly energetic punk infused rock set by Year of The Fist. They are from Oakland and I look forward to catching them again. They started the night off with fierce energy!
Next up was a Bay Area band that I have been waiting to see, Modern Kicks. These young guys brought the rock and roll spirit to the crowd with a much needed dose of old school rock and punk attitude. Hold on tight, they are ready to take you for a wild ride.
The night continued on with a ferocious set by The Kegels. Holy hell they got the crowd riled up and ready to blow. This San Francisco band is pure straight up punk rock at its finest! They got the crowd bouncing of the walls and you could feel the energy race through the room.
Just when the crowd was catching their breath after The Kegels, the Barb Wire Dolls hit the stage and they shot the crowd with another heft dose of adrenaline. It was intense from the first song to the last. They have such a raw grunge energy to their punk rock that just grabs you and takes control of you! You can’t help but want to get right in the middle of the crowd and move, freeing yourself of all your worries and thoughts. It is just so damn cathartic that they should really charge a therapy fee to the crowd!
When you leave, you are a new person. Your wobbly feet can barely contain your listless body that is dripping in the sweat of all your released pent up emotions. But one thing is certain, you have a smile across your face as you just experienced the night of your life! Barb Wire Dolls took over the DNA and blew the roof off!
