Crown The Empire with Coldrain and Volumes, Contributed by Alex Bock

Backstage Club, Munich

It’s been a while, since Crown The Empire have been out on tour in Germany as a headliner. 3 ½ years ago they played at the Backstage, but in a slightly bigger venue.  Their last live performance here though was about 10 months back, where they were supporting One OK Rock. It gave them a chance to introduce themselves to a bigger audience.

Since CTE haven’t been out on tour in Germany a lot over the last years, it was hard to say, how many people would really show up. As it turned out, the choice of Coldrain as one of the support acts, was helpful on that part. Many of the people queueing wore Coldrain shirts and they were clearly here to party with them.

The strength of the crowd was equally strong throughout the whole night.

Coldrain got the crowd going from start to finish. The floor was packed and the fans were enjoying every minute of the bands’ set.

Volumes kept up the good mood and with a little one on one action with the fans, the people got what they came for.

While some people worried whether the crowd would diminish after Coldrain, there was nothing to worry when Crown The Empire entered the stage after the intro (SK-68) to the first song ‘Are You Coming With Me’ from their latest full length record ‘Retrograde’. The set-list contained songs of every era of their career, from ‘Memories Of A Broken Heart’ to ‘Millenia’ and their latest release ‘What Am I’, the responses to each song were great. Due to the crowds’ demand, they even fit in a wall of death. Though on the road here in Europe for about a month now, the band didn’t seem to have lost their energy and obviously had a great time themselves on stage. Let’s hope we won’t have to wait that long to welcome them back here.
