GRETA VAN FLEET WINS BEST ROCK ALBUM FOR FROM THE FIRES!

Today is a big day and no, I am not talking about my birthday! Tonight is the 61st Recording Academy Grammy Awards. Today during the pre-telecast, our favorite band has taken a big win. Greta Van Fleet has won Best Rock Album  for From the Fires. This is a huge win for them and we congratulate them on all their hard work.  They were up against some great talent, Alice in Chains, Rainier Fog; Fall Out Boy, M A N I A; Ghost, Prequelle; and Weezer, Pacific Daydream.

From the Fires was the double EP from Greta and was released November 10, 2017. That album is such a special and personal one for all of us at Music Junkie Press. It is the music that got us through one of our darkest times; losing our home and business in the Santa Rosa Tubbs Fire.  For that, we thank them for getting us through to the light.

They have three other nominations:

  • Best Rock Song  for Black Smoke Rising
  • Best Rock Performance for Highway Tune
  • Best New Artist

The pre-telecast has already announced St. Vincent taking the Best Rock Song and Chris Cornell taking the Best Rock Performance. So, we are hoping that Greta can take home a second Grammy for Best New Artist.

We will continue to keep you posted.

Greta Van Fleet performed last night for the Universal Music Group Artist Showcase and are in town for the Grammy Awards. They will then be heading out to Spain to continue their overseas tour dates. We are anxiously awaiting announcements for more US tour dates! Their live performances are absolutely spectacular and we can’t wait for more.

In case you missed it, we announced Greta Van Fleet as our choice for Top Live Performances of 2018! Check out the details below:

Topping our list is none other than Greta Van Fleet, who are like a pair of shock paddles resuscitating the life of Rock n Roll. We were fortunate to catch four of their California shows in 2018. Within the last decade,  we have seen many bands deliver some good blips on the heartline of the rock and roll, but none as huge as the spike that Greta Van Fleet is making.  They are bringing a full on resuscitation to ROCK ‘N ROLL so get ready, hang on and enjoy the ride. The first show we saw this year was at the John Anson Ford Amphitheater:

The crowd grew to capacity as Greta Van Fleet were to take the stage. The excitement raced through the crowd as the lights dimmed and the band entered. From the first note to the last, the energy was off the charts.  The band kicked off their set with the fan favorite, Highway Tune. The crowd went wild and were singing along instantly.

You couldn’t help but feel like you were witnessing one of the early shows of what would become a legendary rock band. They were so good, they gave me goosebumps  as I watched the sheer power of their performance. The crowd was diverse and included a range of young fans on up to seasoned rockers.  They were all in agreement, cheering on the kick ass rock n roll band, Greta Van Fleet.” Check out photos of their set by our Rockin Ryan:

Next up was their 3 Day Bay Area Rock n Roll Takeover with shows at Fox Theater in Oakland, National Civic in San Jose and The Masonic in San Francisco.
