We are only days away from the release of Motörhead‘s new album, Bad Magic on August 28th. The album is a pure musical gem that highlights their signature sound and takes you on rock and roll adventure. They have also set out on a 40th anniversary world tour in support of their new album. The tour kicked off last week in Riverside and we were excited to catch their San Francisco show last night at The Warfield.
Opening up the night was Crobot who blew us away last year when we first saw them roll through San Francisco at the DNA Lounge. You can check out our interview with them from that night and full coverage by heading over here: Interview with Crobot at DNA. They started the night off with their dirty groove style complete with riff heavy stoner rock vibes.
Next up was a stellar performance by the legendary Saxon. Holy hell they were incredible and their energy was nonstop. With a set list that took us back in time for some treasures that sounded just as good as they did back in the 80’s. Some of my faves were Wheels of Steel, Princess of the Night, Never Surrender, Crusader. The whole set list was my fave! Check out some photos from our Rockin Ryan:
The crowd was wild as Motörhead took the stage and started the night off with Damage Case. From the first song to the last, the adrenaline flowed through the crowd and was nonstop. The pit was fierce and included several crowd surfers. The sound of the night was impeccable and it was great to see a full on rock show with spot on performances. It always amazes me that these three can create such a powerful and captivating sound. This legendary band continues to inspire generations of rockers, all whom would love to be even half as good as Motörhead. Lemmy, Phil and Mikkey are iconic musicians that will leave you in awe when they perform. The night continued with faves like We Are Motorhead, Lost Woman Blues, The Chase Is Better Than The Catch, Doctor Rock and ended with the outstanding performances of Ace of Spades and Overkill.
