There is just something magical when a band with a legendary history puts out a new album and you fall even deeper in love with them. That is exactly what happened when I first listened to the new album, Bad Magic from Motörhead. The album is a pure musical gem that highlights their signature sound and takes you on rock and roll adventure. It is their 22nd studio album and marks their 40th anniversary. They also kicked off a tour in support of their album and we were lucky enough to catch their San Francisco show at The Warfield. The new album starts right off with Lemmy boldly announcing Victory or Die. This is the perfect song to charge ahead into an album that is straight no holds barred rock and roll! Phil makes his entrance with his fierce guitar riffs and Mikkey’s thundering drums. This is one hell of an entrance as the album opens the gates and rush of adrenaline fueled music is unleashed!

Thunder and Lighting ushers in and Fire in the Storm follows as your head is now swirling in a sea of guitar riffs and energy. Shoot Out All of Your Lights and Evil Eye ill have drum enthusiasts drooling as Mikkey fires away. The album continues on as you can’t help but feel the adrenaline rushing through your veins.  Just when you think you can’t take anymore, the incredible Till The End gives you time to appreciate the versatility of this legendary band and Lemmy’s melodic vocals are spot on and blissful.

A couple of my stand out favorites are Tell Me Who To Kill and Electricity. This is one solid album that will have you from start to finish. The cover of Symphathy For The Devil is for myself, the true highlight. Lemmy simply owns this song for me as it is not in a sense a cover but a complete take over. Lemmy adds his own flair to it and makes it his own.

Whether you are an old time Motörhead fan or even new to the mix, this album will soon become one of your favorites.  This legendary band continues to inspire generations of rockers, all whom would love to be even half as good as Motörhead. Lemmy, Phil and Mikkey are iconic musicians that continue to leave their audience and fans in awe. Check out some photos from their set in San Francisco:
