As an early X-Mas treat for me, I went to see We Came As Romans in Munich a few nights ago. I’d have loved to see them playing a headlining show, but this time they were the opening band for One OK Rock.

Quick introduction for those who haven’t heard of the band before. They are a six piece from Detroit, MI. They started out in 2005. To give you an idea of what their sound is, I’d say it’s post hardcore/metalcore. The vocal parts are divided into clean vocals (Kyla Pavone) and screams (Dave Stephens), there two guitarists, Joshua Moore and Lou Cotton, Andy Glass plays the bass and there’s Eric Choi on drums. Their debut album ‘To Plant A Seed’ was released on Nov. 3rd, 2009. Since then there were three more full-length records released. ‘Understanding What We’ve Grown To be’ (2011), ‘Tracing Back Routes’ (2013) and their recent one just got out a few months back on July 24th, 2015. It’s self titled. The very first single of that record, ‘The World I Used To Know,’ was released the same day.

That night they started out with the first track of their recent album ‘Regenerate’. Throughout the whole set they really had the crowd going. The average age of the crowd was mid-teens and they brought along a big amount of energy. Many of them sang along, so it’s safe to say not everyone was there for the headliners alone. The set-list consisted of four songs of their recent record and three from ‘Tracing Back Routes’. During their set, Ryoto and Tomo from One OK Rock, joined them on stage for the song ‘Tear It Down’. Way to soon they ended their set with the song ‘Hope’.

The set list of the night was:

  1. Regenerate
  2. Fade Away
  3. Ghosts
  4. The World I Used To Know
  5. Tear It Down
  6. Who Will Pray?
  7. Hope

We Came As Romans just released a new video for the song ‘Who Will Pray?’. Check it out here:
