On number 32 of our countdown we would like to feature the RCF new HDL50-A line array that will be introduced at NAMM 2016! Check out the news below:

The most powerful in the series, the HDL50-A is an active three-way line array module, designed specifically for large events — both indoors and outdoors.

Equipped with two 12” woofers, four symmetrical 6.5” midranges and two 2” drivers, it offers excellent playback quality and high sound pressure levels with a built in 4400-watt powerful digital amplifier. Using advanced neodymium magnets and a groundbreaking new housing constructed from lightweight plywood and polypropylene, it has a remarkably low weight of only 106 pounds.

The custom 4PATH designed waveguide allows a precise coverage of 90°x10° degrees, while also delivering a superb, linear high frequency response. The unique shape of the four ducts forming the guide create an ideal isophasic load from 700 Hz to the highest audible frequencies.

The two ND850 large format compression drivers deliver one of the key advantages of the HDL 50-A, while the 3” voice coil allows a crossover point of 800Hz allowing this driver to produce almost all of the vocal range. This allows better coverage and superior efficiency.

The symmetrical design of the cabinet produces identical left and right coverage. The component positioning and special DSP crossover filtering of the HDL50-A take care of the constant directivity without spots of break up or attenuation. The RCF designed V-SHAPED front baffle provides coplanar midranges and woofers and a controlled LF dispersion.

A 4400-watt peak power digital amplifier powers the HDL50-A: 800-watt for the HF, 1400-watt for Midrange section and 2200-watt for the LF. New generation DSP handles all the processing within the cabinet and allows adjustment of Cluster size and HF projection.

All these settings are accessed by the encoder on the rear of the cabinets or using the integrated RDNet remote control. The easy to access controls on the back of the speaker allow a number of simple optimizations to be carried out at the flick of a switch.

The HDL50-A tour grade system comes in a composite wooden polypropylene enclosure, and is equipped with two aluminum side handles with rubber handgrips and two rear handles for portability.

The integrated mechanics are both fast and reconfigurable, allowing the system engineer to create J-shaped and spiral arrays with 0.5° resolution. The heavy-duty front grille is power coated. A special transparent-to-sound foam backing inside helps to further protect the transducers from dust.

The HDL50-A will be integrated into the RCF line array Shape Designer system design software for production companies and integrators to model systems for control, pattern, SPL and mounting configurating.

RCF’s newly announced SUB 9007-AS has been designed as one of the most powerful 2 x 21” active subwoofers in the field of live sound.

Featuring two, high power, hyper-vented 21” neodymium woofers with 4” inside-outside voice coils, this cabinet deliver a serious amount of low frequencies. Powered by a 6800-watt digital amplifier, the SUB 9007-AS can perform in the most demanding situations. The housing of the SUB 9007-AS matches the RCF HDL50 array systems, enabling stacked systems built in a perfect combination.

RCF will also be demonstrating the new three-way TTL6-A line source that has been added to its Touring & Theatre range.

This high power, three-way, active line source is engineered to deliver high fidelity output, both indoors and outdoors, and will serve a wide variety of medium-to-large-space applications.

The loudspeaker has been engineered to provide all the advantages of line array technology, such as high direct sound, increased range and a uniform level distribution, with additional ease of use. The pattern of coverage is a focused 90° x 30° directivity. It is the ideal sound set-up if the system is preferred stacked and a wider dispersion with high dynamic range is required.

The design philosophy forTTL-6A and all the new TT+ series is based upon offering the sound engineer solutions and tools that are ready to use — and a key factor is the ability to sustain very high power with highly efficient sound pressure levels and extended dynamic range.

The TTL6-A is equipped with two 12” woofers for bass, four 6.5″ midranges and a 2″ compression driver with waveguide for distinctive homogenous directivity. The integration of four channels of 550-Watt digital amplification and the advanced RDNet digital processing set a new standard for distortion, noise and thermal efficiency. Two independent digital amplifiers 550-watt each for the low frequencies, 700-watt for the mid frequency woofers and 400-watt for the driver deliver an astonishing output power, making the TTL6-A a very powerful three-way module capable of achieving 139 dB maximum SPL. These offer hi-fi sound, extremely low distortion with negligible quiescent noise and stable burst response. Thanks to their efficiency no fans are required, and thus they operate silently.
