NEW MUSIC: Cage The Elephant release stellar new song, Ready to Let Go off upcoming new album, Social Cues

What a perfect way to start a Thursday! I woke up and have been listening to the kick ass new song Ready To Let Go, by Cage The Elephant. It is the first song to be released off their  upcoming fifth studio album, titled Social Cues, set to release on April 19th via RCA Records. ‘Produced by John Hill (Santigold, Florence + The Machine, Portugal. The Man, tUnE-yArDs), the album was recorded at Battle Tapes Recording, Blackbird Studio and Sound Emporium in Nashville and The Village Recording Studio in Los Angeles, mixed by Tom Elmhirst and mastered by Randy Merrill in New York City.’    About the new album,

The majority of the material on Social Cues was written during the unravelling of Shultz’s relationship. In order make sense of such a difficult experience, he explored the hidden recesses of his psyche, creating characters to tell different parts of his personal story. He explains, “it can be a vehicle to act out things that are hard to confront.” He went on to say, “when I’m creating, I try to put myself in a reactive state of improvisational thought. I let images just arise in my mind and wait for it to evoke an emotional response and then when it does, I know I’m on to something. I was watching a lot of Fassbinder films, like World on a Wire and The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant. I was thinking about their beauty coupled with the graphic surrealism of Aronofsky.”

The new track has us hooked and in high anticipation for the new album. You can feel the energy and emotion that has been released into the new song and we can’t wait for more! Check out the video for the new song which was directed by  lead singer Matt Shultz.

I still remember the first time we saw Cage The Elephant, back in 2011 as they opened for the Foo Fighters. We were instantly blown away by their performance and they have been one of our top favorite bands ever since.

Cage The Elephant will headline Shaky Knees festival in Atlanta on May 4th. We can’t wait for them to announce more tour dates. The last time we had the chance to catch them was their incredible performance at Outside Lands 2017.

Make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news.
