Deaf Havana announce the release of their sixth studio album, “The Present Is A Foreign Land”! The long-awaited follow-up to their hit album “Rituals” comes with 12 tracks written and recorded entirely by brothers James and Matty Veck-Gilodi themselves. In terms of content, the emotional songs revolve around topics such as impostor syndrome, overcoming difficult life obstacles, and self-discovery.
In 2020, the band members of Deaf Havana made their decision to go their separate ways after a decade of history together, but then the pandemic struck and they had no choice but to quit making music altogether.
Still, Matty continued to write new songs, which brought him and his brother James back together after a tumultuous few months. The two decided to continue as Deaf Havana and holed up in a Hastings studio with producer Mike Horner (Hot Chip, Jess Glynne, YONAKA, among others) to deliver a mature and accomplished work called “The Present Is A Foreign Land”.
The new single “ Going Clear“: The honest and vulnerable track once again combines James’ unmistakable voice with emotional lyrics that come straight from the heart and in turn go to the heart.
James explains:
“‘Going Clear’ is a track I started writing a long time ago, but it’s only recently that I’ve realized that it’s a song that deals solely with addiction and the effects it has on loved ones and family members […].”
In addition to the new album, you can also look forward to live shows from the guys. For example, they will rock the stage at the Slam Dunk Festival in the summer alongside Alexisonfire, The Wonder Years, Meet Me At The Altar, and many others.
Deaf Havana were able to place their three albums “Rituals”, “All These Countless Nights” and “Old Souls” straight away in the TOP 10 of the British album charts in the last ten years, played and performed their biggest headline show to date at the Brixton Academy in 2018 at festivals like Reading & Leeds, Mad Cool, and Pukkelpop. In addition, Deaf Havana have played a sold-out tour in Germany and their biggest headlining tour in the UK.
