Gen And The Degenerates release brand new EP “Only Alive When In Motion”

Following the fantastic reception that lead single and amuse-bouche ‘Girl, God, Gun’ garnered the time has come for Gen and the Degenerates to unveil their brand new EP “Only Alive When in Motion” and main dish.

After multiple accolades across the board, including Louder and Rock Sound both of whom described the track as “a black finger nail-painted middle finger to the patriarchy” and “a driving and bristly slab of post-punk affirmations”. At last, fans will be treated to all five tracks to come from the wonderful minds of Gen and the Degenerates.

The EP, titled ‘Only Alive When In Motion’ looks both inward and outwards with Gen’s unwavering gaze being firmly fixed on doing right by not just themselves but everyone. Recorded at Marshall Studios in Bletchley, each of the different tracks focus on a particular element that has not only affected them but no doubt countless others. Varying from struggling with mental health and sexual identity to the danger of idolizing celebrities and the pedestals that they stand on ‘Only Alive When In Motion’ is an EP that’s here to set the record straight.

Regarding the release of the EP, Gen and the Degenerates had the following to say:

“Since our first few rehearsals we’ve known we had something special. The fact that we’ve got to a place where we can release our first longer body of work means other people are starting to notice as well and I can’t think of anything more exciting. The title ‘Only Alive When In Motion’ reflects us as people, the energy we have on stage but also an unflinching desire to be present and alive even if at times its painful, to accept the good and the bad. It’s as scary as it is exciting to bare our souls like this but whatever comes, we’re ready for it”.
