Highway Terrier release new track Walking Weapon

Hailing from Davis, California, rockers Highway Terrier have been steadily building a name for themselves with a fiery energy. Their performances are known for igniting crowds, with fans already singing along to songs like Covid Blues and now their latest release, Walking Weapon. The band has also gained recognition on the local scene, even opening as student performers at the UC Davis Brainfreeze concert alongside Juno-nominated artist Luna Li. Frontman Joshua Levi delivers powerful, larger-than-life vocals that soar over the band’s driving sound, while Johnny Moeller brings precision and intensity behind the drum kit. Brandon Ramirez lays down a groove-heavy bass foundation, and guitarist Ben Sherstinsky, the band’s founder and primary songwriter who fuels Highway Terrier’s sound with gritty riffs and songwriting that captures their raw rock spirit. Sherstinsky also played every instrument and wrote all the music and lyrics for their singles, including Covid Blues and the newly released Walking Weapon.

About the new track,

In the midst of college blues, guitarist Ben Sherstinsky had turned a calm riff into something of an unbridled rage. Lyrics followed, with Ben narrating the story of a man who had endured the worst trauma imaginable–but came out of it a beast at life, an unstoppable force—the Walking Weapon. This song is about overcoming one’s lowest points, and not only coming out of it a stronger person but also using that trauma to fuel one’s motivations and actions after the fact. After writing the song, Ben recorded each instrument and vocals with this energy (electric and acoustic guitars, drums, bass, vocals). In the Davis, CA scenes it became an instant hit, with fans singing along at every show.

Time to crank up the music and check out the new track:

Listening to Walking Weapon, you immediately feel the raw energy that Highway Terrier bring to their music. The song kicks in with a gritty guitar tone and a driving rhythm that pulls you right in. What really stands out is how the band locks into a groove that feels both powerful and loose at the same time. This is the kind of track that makes you imagine a packed room with everyone feeding off the band’s energy. The track features Ben’s soaring vocals and instrumentation with a confident swagger. There’s a classic rock spirit running through the song, but it still feels fresh and alive rather than nostalgic. Walking Weapon is a track to remind you why rock music still hits so hard when it’s played with conviction and fire.
