British songwriting and production duo Jungle is debuting their new single “Back On 74” alongside a first-of-its-kind interactive video, marking the latest drop in their creative collaboration series with WeTransfer. The video will be available for 14 days exclusively at Jungle’s dedicated site within WeTransfer and will be further promoted via WeTransfer’s global landing page. Listen to/share “Back on 74” HERE, which appears on their highly anticipated new album Volcano out August 11 on Caiola Records / AWAL.
“Back on 74” continues Jungle’s unique visual aesthetic with its intricately crafted choreography and one-take photography as well as its merger between music and movement. Released in collaboration with WeTransfer’s in-house Creative Studio and Emmy Award-winning Nexus Studios, the film is presented as a virtual art gallery and each piece of art displayed can be downloaded by viewers in real-time. When an artwork is downloaded, it’s instantly replaced by a random choice of 10,000 other unique works, all of which were created by Jungle co-founder J Lloyd. As a result, the video will constantly evolve with every watch and each interaction will again alter the experience for subsequent viewers. When fans download a piece of artwork from the film, they also access the opportunities to win one of 100+ tickets for a show of their choice from the group’s upcoming run of European and North American dates.
Filmed at London’s legendary Alexandra Palace, the video was directed by J Lloyd and frequent collaborator Charlie Di Placido and produced by WeTransfer. The video represents the final offering from the Jungle and WeTransfer creative collaboration series previewing the release of their forthcoming album Volcano. The project is designed to enable the group to connect with their fans directly by offering a range of exclusive content from WeTransfer for free download. These include backgrounds, wallpapers and ringtones for mobile phones, music stems for a remix competition and a zine featuring behind-the-scenes material.
ungle will also release a full-length film Volcano, The Motion Picturepremiering exclusively via the duo’s fan club starting August 11.
The free-spirited energy that runs right through Volcano reflects how organically it came together. This time around the duo wanted to include a wider variety of voices within the album, leading to collaborations with Erick The Architect, Bas, Roots Manuva, Channel Tres, JNR Williams and more.
Previously released singles include “Candle Flame” featuring rapper Erick the Architect, “Dominoes” and “I’ve Been In Love” featuring Channel Tres. All of which have received widespread support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, Radio 2, Apple Music 1, SiriusXMU, KCRW and KEXP.
Jungle is also set for an extensive run of worldwide tour dates in support of the forthcoming album. The duo’s lauded full-band live shows will grace some of their biggest venues to date as they’re set to play to a total of more than 190,000 people. Their North American run kicks off in Santa Barbara on September 6 and includes shows at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium, Los Angeles’ The Forum, DC’s The Anthem, Philadelphia’s Franklin Music Hall, Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom and more. The group is also slated to headline London’s All Points East Festival on August 26. See below for the full tour routing.
Jungle was founded by J&T, who met at the age of 10 in West London’s Shepherd’s Bush. They began making music together at the beginning of 2013, choosing to put the aesthetic emphasis on the music’s surrounding artwork/videos rather than on their own identities.
Jungle’s acclaimed 2014 self-titled debut album was a Mercury Prize nominee and is now Gold-certified while their lauded 2018 follow-up, For Ever, reached #10 on the UK Albums Chart. In addition, their 2021 album, Loving In Stereo, achieved their highest domestic chart position to date, debuting at #1 on Billboard’s Current Electronic Albums chart while also peaking at #3 on Independent Albums, #4 on Current Rock Albums and #6 on Current Alternative Albums charts. Their three records have since amassed over a million equivalent album sales and a billion streams worldwide. They’ve performed on five continents, headlining venues both stateside and abroad while performing at major music festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella, Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. Last year, the duo embarked on a select run of European dates supporting Billie Eilish on her “Happier Than Ever” tour.
