Brisbane based dark indie band Mecha Mecha have just released a personal brooding new track that will capture your attention. The song Mourning in the Evening will definitely resonate as it shares the worst part of a breakup. What they have to say about the new track,

Probably our most personal song, there isn’t really a nice way to put it. It’s epic, but extremely vulnerable, and honestly pretty scary to put out there. The fear of releasing the song has probably inhibited the release process a bit. Getting the balance right of not airing dirty laundry, but keeping the song’s integrity has been tricky.

It’s about losing the one, not the one that got away, but THE one, but from the perspective of the person leaving.

Esoterically, it’s just a comment on how life often seems to hit us with everything in one go, and we push on, the silver lining of rain clouds acting as a lighthouse that guides you through whatever storm it is you’re traversing.

But lyrically, it’s just a sad song about the worst part of a break up. You’re right in the thick of it, realising that it’s really ending, and you’re living someone else’s worst dream, even armed with the knowledge that it’s supposed to happen, and that it’s a very normal form of pain, it’s still pain. It still sucks right now.

Even if you’re the one who’s got to end it, and no matter how prepared either of you are, it’s still going to result in suffering. The loss of the time you invested together, and the numb limbo where you’re moving houses and sleeping in the same bed, and the time where being asleep, when you can get it, is the only respite you get. We’ve done our best to document that part of my life. I recorded the vocals at home, and most of them were kept from the demo (which is actually why we’re choosing to publish the demo track). We tried to replicate the space to record them in Brock’s studio, but just couldn’t. Some of the lyrics are just dialogue, and other lyrics are just describing the feeling of a bruised heart.
