Los Angeles-based punk band The Linda Lindas presented the video for their new song “Talking To Myself” from their highly anticipated debut record “Growing Up”.  The black and white music video was created by producer Ryan Baxley and is a playful homage to the classic Twilight Zone-episode “Living Doll”.

Lucia de la Garza from the band says about the song:

“The song is about the spiral you get into, when you are alone. You start to question yourself and every decision you have made. I always look back on conversations and think: “Oh, I should have said this , I should have said that.” But it’s also about needing other people, not only to quiet down, but because we all learned from the pandemic, that we need other people to talk to, to keep sane.”

Last month The Linda Lindas announced their debut album with a video produced by Humberto Leon for the title track “Growing Up“, which Rolling Stone praised as “catchy and danceable” and said “you can imagine, how teenagers shout it out of the car windows on the last day of school”, SPIN called it a “punk rock classic to grow up”. To celebrate the album announcement the band played the song at The Late Late Show with James Corden.

The Linda Lindas will play a show in Los Angeles at the Troubadour on April 10th and in New York City at the Mercury Lounge on May 1st – both shows were immediately sold-out. They will also play a few US shows as support for Jawbreaker as well as a few festivals in Osaka, Las Vegas, and Japan.

Lucia de la Garza about the video for “Talking To Myself”:

“Originally the concept for the video was us holding the puppets up and play around with them. Later we let ourselves getting inspired by Talky Tina from Twilight Zone (from the episode “Living Doll”) and wanted to make something dark. That’s why the film is in black and white. A majority of the film was shot at our home and our garden and it was simply fun to work with Mind Palace and create a storyboard.”

The debut from The Linda Lindas, who experienced generations of underground music in LA and beyond, unites classic punk, post-punk, power-pop, new wave, and other surprises in timeless catchy, and cool songs, sung by all four members – each with her own style and energy. With constantly more mature writing skills and extended life experience, The Linda Lindas get more and more grown-up.
