Eyes Set To Kill is our Monster Energy Aftershock Featured Band of the Day

July 30, 2014

Today our Monster Aftershock Festival Featured Band of the Day goes to Eyes Set To Kill. If you are not familiar with them, first… shame on you! second, let me tell you about this great band. These three have such passion for their music and it shines through each and every song. Their hard rock/metal music has been capturing everyone’s attention for years. They are not a new band, they may be young but you might be surprised to know that they have over a 10 year history. Though they have had many line up changes, I feel that today they shine as a solid band and the founding members, sisters Anissa and Alexia along with long time member Caleb are strong and tight which is displayed when they perform. They have an incredible stage presence and I can’t wait for everyone at Aftershock to see how bad ass Eyes Set To Kill are.  They have been touring extensively in support of their highly praised album, Masks which was released last year through Century Media Records. Corey Taylor treats fans to an eclectic acoustic set at That Metal Show Concert

July 29, 2014

We have been telling you about all the great sets at the first ever That Metal Show concert which was held at Thunder Valley Resort in Lincoln, CA last Friday. It was great seeing the hosts of VH1’s That Metal Show as they introduced all the great bands. Make sure to check out our coverage of Living Colour and  Anthrax too.  But now, let us tell you about the great eclectic set that Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour) delivered. Corey played a little bit of everything during his acoustic set. First, I have to tell you about the blazing heat as it was well over 100 degrees and I can only imagine how hot it was on that stage. I have to give a big kudos to all the great bands as they put on spectacular performances. Corey was there in the heat and he gave his 125% as always treating the crowd to his captivating vocals. He played some Stone Sour, cover songs, even a Slipknot song! Check out the photos of Corey from his set at [Read More]

Theory of a Deadman is our Monster Energy Aftershock Featured Band of the Day

July 29, 2014

Today we are back at highlighting the many awesome bands on the lineup for this year’s Monster Energy Aftershock Festival. Our spotlight for today is on one of my personal favorites, Theory of a Deadman. I was glad to see them on the lineup because it has been way too long since my last concert of theirs. They have also just released their new album, Savages on Roadrunner Records. This is the fifth full length album for the Canadian rockers and it is another great one. They have definitely honed in on mastering their craft and taken chances on this album that I think are well taken. I love to see a band evolve into their own style and doing what they want to do and make the music “they” want and this album highlights their great songwriting skills. Tyler Connolly explains more about this album, “It’s such a different record for us,” he asserts. “I’m known as the guy who writes all of the ‘breakup’ songs. It would have been typical to write more, so [Read More]

Anthrax delivers a fierce set for the 1st ever That Metal Show concert at Thunder Valley Resort

July 27, 2014

We made it Friday night to the 1st ever That Metal Show concert which was held at the Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln, CA. The lineup included local favorite Burn Halo, Corey Taylor, Living Colour and Anthrax along with the hosts of That Metal Show; Don Jamieson, Eddie Trunk and Jim Florentine. We left early to make sure we had lots of time to hang out and get ready for a blazing night of metal. Well, after two accidents and road closures, what was to be a 2 hour ride doubled to 4. We arrived in time to hear the last two songs of Burn Halo which we were really looking forward to. We look forward to catch them at Aftershock in September. Corey Taylor did a great acoustic set and Living Colour got the crowd revved up and ready for more.   The heat was blazing at well over a 100 deg and then it really kicked up the heat when Anthrax took to the stage. One thing is certain when you go to [Read More]
