156/Silence announce new EP “Don’t Hold Your Breath”

September 28, 2021

Pittsburgh hardcore/metal juggernauts 156/SILENCE have announced plans to release a new EP titled “Don’t Hold Your Breath” on October 29th with SharpTone Records. Containing four powerful tracks and recorded in only four days’ time, the EP is both a thematic ode to inescapable chaos and a prime study in calculated foresight. Produced by Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos), mastered by Will Putney (Every Time I Die, The Ghost Inside, Knocked Loose), and written in tandem with a brand-new album, “Don’t Hold Your Breath” not only boasts several insightful hints but stands out as the band’s most deliberate and confident sound to date. 156/SILENCE has revealed a video for the record’s first single “The Wrong Sense”. Commenting on the EP guitarist Ryan Wilkinson states: “In 2020 the world went into lockdown, and widespread panic ensued. Many of us were isolated from our family, friends, and the lives we knew as we watched it all unfold. A lot of us experienced overwhelming feelings of fear, anxiety, helplessness, and uncertainty as we retreated further into ourselves. We as a [Read More]

This idea started from the notes app on our phone, and it’s now the first song you hear on our new EP.” After spending nearly every Sunday during the pandemic brainstorming and writing together, childhood friends Alex Magnan (vocals), Gabe Pietrafesa (guitar), and Troy Burchett (guitar) were ready to share the found happiness and love that many people are now being able to experience once again. The band’s debut self-titled LP released in 2020 was an extremely diverse mix of songs, so the guys decided to base the pop-rock sound of this EP off of the style of music their fans enjoyed the most from their previous album. Drug Church announce new EP “Tawny” and share title track

April 22, 2021

Everyone’s favorite punk rock agitators, Drug Church, have returned. Today the Albany/Los Angeles-based band announced “Tawny”: a new four-song EP due out June 25th from Pure Noise Records that acts as a bridge from their 2018 LP, “Cheer”, to Drug Church’s impending fourth full-length. “Cheer” was acclaimed by both fans and critics alike (including praise from the likes of Stereogum, Noisey, Revolver, BrooklynVegan, and more), and with “Tawny” the band push their blend of hardcore aggression and massive, ’90s-indebted hooks even further. Drug Church have also shared the EP’s title track, a towering wall of heavy guitars and pummeling drums with an anthemic climax that hints at the band’s ever-expanding songwriting toolbox. Never one to flinch at the darker corners of the human condition, vocalist Patrick Kindlon’s lyrics remain as vitriolic as ever. “People are so happy to not be in the guillotine, they’ll cheer at anyone else’s execution”, he says. “I’ve about had it with that”. “Tawny” is comprised of Drug Church’s crushing 2020 single “Bliss Out”, a cover of Arcwelder’s “Remember To Forget”, [Read More]

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA ANNOUNCE “ZII” EP

April 8, 2021

The Devil Wears Prada can always be counted on to challenge themselves — and the world around them with their music. With their new “ZII” EP, which arrives May 21 via Solid State Records, The Devil Wears Prada did not come to play. It’s a discordant, dissonant exercise in excellence. The band has also planned a livestream event for Saturday, May 15, during which they will play the entire “ZII” EP in full. Fans can purchase tickets along with the pre-order of the EP. The original “Zombie” EP dropped all the way back in August 2010 and remains an intense fan favorite. While not a chronological release in the TDWP catalog, “ZII” is the next chapter. “There’s no question that the ‘Zombie’ EP is a fan favorite and a record that really set the pace for us as a heavier band”, The Devil Wears Prada said, offering insight into this EP in relation to their catalog. “A goal we had for this EP was to pay tribute to ‘Z1’ while honing in on the characteristics [Read More]

State Champs release new single ’10 AM’

July 22, 2020

New York pop-rockers State Champs have dropped a brand new single today. “10 AM” highlights the high-energy band’s ability to slow it down a bit with frontman Derek DiScanio sharing: “10 AM might be the most experimental song we’ve written and recorded”. He continues by saying “However, it stemmed from a simple idea to have a mellow, acoustic, feel-good vibe, and mix it with lyrical frustration about questioning your worth in a relationship and unrequited love. We were able to bring in some unique electronic elements in post-production to top everything off and we’re excited to see what everyone thinks of the final product”. Fans can check out “10 AM” today! “10 AM” joins “Criminal (Acoustic)” and “Crying Out Loud” from the forthcoming EP “State Champs Unplugged”, due out August 14, 2020 via Pure Noise Records. “State Champs Unplugged”, dropping in time for the band’s 10-year anniversary, is much more than a set of stripped-down reimagined bangers. Instead, the EP offers up four brand new tracks crafted specifically for this setting, plus a surprising reworking [Read More]
