The Swedish visionaries of Avatar returned to Munich last week. This time, they played a bigger venue, the Tonhalle, and managed to sell it out completely in advance!

The atmosphere was, as always, loaded with anticipation, and the “citizens of Avatar country” were not disappointed. It was an energetic show that led through many albums of the band. Most of the songs, though, came from their recent record “Don’t Go In The Forest”, but they also played all-time favorites like “The Eagle Has Landed” and “Bloody Angel”. After almost two hours, they closed their set with two more fan favorites, “Smells Like A Freakshow” and “Hail the Apocalypse”.

Of course, Avatar didn’t come alone. As always, they brought opening bands, which you probably wouldn’t think of. I mean, we had acoustic solo artists and a freak show before. But even if you wouldn’t expect acts like this, somehow the line-up always fits.

This time Avatar brought the Norwegian band Witch Club Satan and Alien Weaponry from New Zealand on their European/UK tour. While WCS were only known to a few people, Alien Weaponry already had a lot of fans in the audience.

Avatar still have a few shows left on this touring cycle, three dates had to be postponed because Avatar’s singer Johannes Eckerström was sick. They will happen later this year. There’s also a US tour coming up. Make sure you don’t miss this and get your tickets fast.
