The Devil Wears Prada live in Munich with Kingdom Of Giants, Ocean Grove and Senna

February 11th, 2025 at the Muffathalle

The Devil Wears Prada announced their tour a while back and in December, due to tickets selling fast, the band got a venue upgrade for some cities, including Munich. So for the first time, they played at the Muffathalle. We only had to wait a year for TDWP to come back again. Last year they played with Landmvrks and promised to come back soon. Well, they kept their promise.

The line-up for the night was Senna, Ocean Grove, Kingdom Of Giants and The Devil Wears Prada.

Senna

Senna, a relatively new band from Mannheim, Germany came first. The venue had already filled, when they started their set. Senna have not yet released a record. Their debut album “Stranger To Love” will be out on May 23rd. Make sure to check them out. They played a great set.

Ocean Grove

Next on were Ocean Grove from Australia. They were added to the line-up only 2 weeks before the tour started, because SeeYouSpaceCowboy had to cancel their gig. Thankfully Ocean Grove took their chance and filled in. With their mix of nu-metal elements and metalcore they could easily connect with the audience. Add a vocalists that is constantly on the move and jumping, who would actually stand around and not start moving too? Let’s hope they’ll come back to Germany soon. Ocean Grove released their recent record “Oddworld” in November 2024 and made it to the top ten album charts in Australia and also 2nd on the Aria vinyl album charts. Make sure to check out the record.

Kingdom Of Giants

Third band that night were Kingdom Of Giants. Fans of The Amity Affliction probably recognized the bands bass player – John Reeves. He filled in for TAA’s (now former) bass player and co-vocalist Ahren Stringer on their last European tour. He did a pretty good job back then, but he also does an amazing one in his “main” band Kingdom Of Giants. Dana Willax, who shares vocal duties with John Reeves, adding the scream parts, also brought quite the energy on stage. The band’s latest record “Bleeding Star” was released in September 2024. The setlist included popular songs like “Bleach”, “Night Shift” and “Wayfinder” from their first record “Passenger”, but also their new single “Asphalt” and “Wasted Space” from “Bleeding Star”. They were easily able to keep the pace the first bands set and they surely gained a few new fans.

The Devil Wears Prada

9.30 pm – here comes the headliner. The Devil Wears Prada always bring a great amount of power and energy on stage, not least because their scream vocalist Mike Hranica is always a whirlwind on stage. Kinda hard to follow him and get a good shot. He manages to get everyone pumped. The band is celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2025. In their earlier days their music tended more to hardcore. On their last records “The Act” (2019) and “Color Decay” (2022) they added more melodic parts, which surely gained them a lot of new listeners over the last few years. That night old and new songs were almost equally well received, though the crowd might have sung a bit louder on their popular singles “Watchtower”, “Broken”, “Salt”, “Rituals”, “Sacrifice”and “Chemical”. “Chemical” was introduced by singer Jeremy DePoyster (with Mike the only original member left) as one of the most important songs for him. To hear it sung back by a packed venue sure made it all the more special. They closed their set with an “old” one – “Hey John, What’s Your Name Again?”. The band promised to come back soon. Same probably applies to the audience. We’ll be back 100%!
